ABOUT THE OPPORTUNITY

 Energy Delivery has an available position in Transmission Line Maintenance in the General Office, Akron, Ohio.  Overall responsibility of this position is to support FirstEnergy's operating Regions in the

maintenance of Transmission lines and Transmission rights-of-way.

 

Duties of this position include:  Schedule and monitor helicopter inspections and patrols of Transmission lines; schedule and monitor inspection and treatment of in-service wood poles; report Transmission line problems and defects to responsible groups for repairs; schedule and monitor repairs performed by helicopter contractors; procure materials required for Transmission line repairs; investigate right-of-way encroachments and coordinate response to property owners, developers, communities, etc.; maintain/create maps, databases, reports, etc. of Transmission line facilities and activities; assist the System Control Centers and Regions with Transmission line outage investigations; research and provide Transmission line engineering data to operating Regions; assist the operating Regions with storm damage restoration; create cost estimates of miscellaneous Transmission line repair projects; participate in special projects as assigned or directed by Supervisors.

 

QUALIFICATIONS

 

At Engineering Level:  Must have Bachelor’s Degree in Civil or Electrical Engineering

At Advanced Engineering Level:  Must have Bachelor’s Degree in Civil or Electrical Engineering and a Professional Engineer’s License.

 

Experience with design or maintenance of overhead Transmission and/or Distribution lines; knowledge and experience of FirstEnergy's Material-Procurement Practices; knowledge of FirstEnergy's Transmission Construction Standards; knowledge and application of FirstEnergy's Safety Practices good working knowledge of various computer applications (Word, Excel, Access, PowerPoint, Lotus Notes, SAP, "Streets and Trips," (GIS View, etc.); effective oral and written communications; ability to meet customers, property owners, contractors, developers, etc. in tactful, courteous, and diplomatic manner; ability to work in a group setting; has personal vehicle and a valid driver's license.
