Engineer - Distribution Planning

OCCUPATION: Electrical/Electronics Engineering National Grid seeks an Engineer for the Distribution Planning Department located in Hicksville, New York.  This position is responsible for the planning of capital projects to meet load and reliability requirements for substation and distribution improvements.  Specific responsibilities may include but are not limited to the following:  Recommend changes to the existing distribution system to optimize performance, maintain safety and increase reliability. Perform distribution planning for future additions and/or changes that will be required to adequately serve customer load at least possible cost. Perform area studies, develop various alternatives to address system needs and make recommendations for projects to be included in the LIPA (Long Island Power Authority) major capital budget. Collect and analyze load data for substations/distribution systems and forecast real and reactive load.  QUALIFICATIONS: Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering is required.  Masters Degree in Electrical Engineering or MBA is preferred. Thorough knowledge of all the components of the electric system, power system data, analysis and operations is preferred. Strong interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills required. Strong computer skills are essential.
