About the Opportunity This Engineer, located in Red Bank,NJ is accountable for the Engineering Reliability and System Protection of JCP&L's Electric Distribution, Substation and Transmission system in the Central Region of NJ. Performs root cause analysis to resolve regulatory agencies and customer inquiries, which may be associated with outages and other reliability issues. Responsible for replying to customer outage inquiries. This involves researching customer outage histories and compiling data (using the Frequent Outage Database), and contacting customers as to the nature of their outages.Conducts field investigations and implement corrective measures. Demonstrate proficiency in engineering analysis software to model distribution system, calculate voltage drop and fault currents of circuits. Special projects may be assigned as business needs require. Investigate system outages and disturbances to determine root cause and issue recommendations for corrective action. Keep supervisor informed on a timely basis of actual and/or anticipated problems of the assignments within the area of responsibility. Work closely with other departments to perform problem analysis. Support Regional Dispatching (RDO) during severe weather and storm situations.

Qualifications

Required

A Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering is required. Preference will be given to those with an Engineering-In-Training certificate.

Minimum of 2-3 years of relevant experience considered. Greater relevant experience will be considered for Engieer level.

Must have power distribution work experience and be able to apply technical skills to solve practical problems.

Must possess strong technical competence, be well organized, and detail oriented.

Must have the flexibility to handle multiple assignments with changing priorities and deadlines.

Must have a high regard for personal accountability, and understand the critical importance of Commitment to Engineering Excellence.

Must demonstrate a high energy level and promote a positive work ethic in support of our Corporate Values.

Must possess strong oral and written communication skills and have the ability to effectively interact with subordinates, colleagues and various levels of management.

Will be required to work call-ins and weekends as necessary, to support the storm restoration process.
