Are you up to it?Engineer ( Mechanical, Material Science or Metallurgy)Source Code: 08-0023Primary Responsibilities:Develop technical specifications and verify compliance to contracts by inspection, repair and replacement of boiler pressure parts as well as other power plant equipment for all PPL fossil power plants.Proactively assist in resolving boiler related failures using root cause and failure analysis techniques, reviewing boiler operating data, and analytical tools such as stress and finite element modeling. Provide technical expertise, policies, procedures, standards, and specifications related to combustion, operation, installation and maintenance of boiler equipment. Provide consultation for combustion analysis, operating problems, materials, welding and Code issues as they apply to the installation of pressure parts and associated power plant equipment.Work with Engineering, Maintenance, Operations and Field Service personnel and external organizations to evaluate and improve equipment and plant reliability.Project management activities such as estimating, evaluating alternatives, project justifications, budgeting and coordinating contractors and PPL personnel in support of plant overhauls and maintenance activities associated with engineered projects.
