Engineer-Sr-Lead-Principal OR Analyst-Sr-Lead-Principal

This position is responsible for conducting studies and analysis, supporting project development including software and business process and, providing project management oversight for various operational initiatives to ensure the continued reliability and economic efficiency of the New England Bulk Electric Power System.    Responsibilities include:  Performing analysis and preparing reports related to transmission operating studies that support control room operations and outage coordination to include: Scoping, designing, analyzing and reviewing study efforts to support the New England Transmission Owners and Local Control Centers System restoration including: model maintenance, technical studies, training, etc.  Performing after the fact analysis of unique operating studies Formulating operating guides that provide clear and concise direction on correct operation of the Bulk Power System Assisting in the development, implementation and support of operational software such as Open Access Same-Time Information System (OASIS), ISO Transmission Provider home page, audit software, etc. Supporting the development, modification and implementation of market rules, achieving stakeholder approval, developing legal filings Providing technical support to various committees such as, North American Reliability Council (NERC), Northeast Power Coordinating Council (NPCC) on an ad hoc basis

Requirements include:  Engineer Progression: BS in Electrical Engineering with a concentration in power systems and control and stated experience Analyst Progression: B.S. or B.A. in Project Management, IT or Economic discipline and stated experience Engineer/Analyst level minimum of three years industry experience Senior Engineer/Analyst level minimum of 5 years industry experience Lead Engineer/Analyst level minimum of 8 years industry experience with detailed knowledge of the responsibilities outlined above Principal Engineer/Analyst level minimum of 10 years industry experience and be a subject matter expert in the responsibilities outlined above. Must be self-directed and work in an autonomous environment.  In lieu of a BS, an MS degree with the following level of experience may be substituted: Engineer/Analyst – 2 years experience Senior – 4 years experience Lead – 6 years experience Principal – 8 years experience Experience in electric power systems in the areas of operations, modeling, assessment and planning Familiarity with technical concepts of engineering tools used in the performance of thermal voltage/reactive analysis, stability analysis and transient switching studies.  Knowledge of and experience working with various project management tools Excellent interpersonal skills especially the ability to deal with Management, Internal and External Participants. Working knowledge and proficiency with Microsoft Word, intermediate skills with Excel and proficiency with PowerPoint. Excellent oral, written, communication, and analytical skills  Desired: Professional Engineering license and membership in IEEE Experience with PTI/Siemens applications and AREVA EMS applications An understanding of basic IT principals and concepts An understanding of project management principles
