Engineer (Standards & Policy)

Job Responsibilities:



Development and implementation of engineering, construction and material standards, policies and procedures to maintain safe and reliable gas system performance while continuously improving business performance. Responsible for establishing consistent procedures throughout the organization that meet all regulatory requirements and needs of operating organizations.



Development of clear and concise construction standards, code compliant procedures and safe work methods for enterprise wide application. Drive the organization to formally consolidate consistent work practices and procedures in all regions. Provide enterprise wide support for the implementation of new or updated standards, procedures, work practices and best practice dissemination. Assure effective and timely development of change management plans for policy changes in concert with technical learning and process owners. Provide effective and timely technical support to the gas operating organizations and process owners through coordination of incident investigations and process audit recommendations. May assist in the performance testing and evaluation of new technologies and repair methods to ensure long term performance in the gas distribution system under varied environmental conditions.





Job Qualifications:



Requires a Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering (preferred), Science and/or Professional Engineering License. 5+ years of natural gas engineering or gas distribution experience preferred. Broad background in operating and/or engineering areas of the Natural Gas business unit. Demonstrated technical writing ability; specialized skills in human factors preferred. Strong communication skills, negotiation skills, presentation skills, project management skills, critical thinking and analysis. Ability to build relationships and influence key stakeholders (e.g. both external and internal). Knowledge and experience with web based and network applications. Exhibits personal commitment and integrity. Familiarity with federal, state and local gas transmission and distribution regulations and codes. Familiarity with ASTM, ANSI, ASME, API and various industry standards.
