Primary Role:  Provide business application support to the applicable functional departments and ITS department. Formulate and define systems scope and objectives through research and fact-finding combined with an understanding of business systems and industry requirements.  

 

 

Key Accountabilities:

Day to Day Support:

- Serve as the technical expert in non-ERP financial applications:  i.e. PowerPlant (Financial Asset Management, Capital Budgeting & Funding, Power Builder Reporting) Movaris (Sox Compliance & Financial Close Management), Secretariat (Corporate Entity Management), IBM ReqPro (Requirements Management)

-  Analyze business requirements to provide the necessary information for new business processes.

-  Recommend changes for improvement with an emphasis on automation and efficiency.  

-  Perform new business process and data requirements gathering utilizing system expertise

Relationships:

-  Coordinate with technical & functional areas in the research and resolution of system and process problems

-  Resolve any issues that cross multiple systems or areas which may affect the business process.

-  Coordinate with technical & functional areas and appropriate vendors during escalated problem resolution, upgrades, etc.

Policies & Procedures

-  Follow ITS policies and procedures such as Change Management, PMO methodology and SOX requirements.

Business Support:

-  Support application production issues using strong analytical & problem solving skills, and functional/technical expertise.

-  Primary support would be for break/fix problems, unless assigned to enhancements.

-  Provide business process redesign analysis to support business changes and technology opportunities.

-  Make appropriate technical configurations to the applicable systems up to but not including application programming modifications.

Project Requirements:

-  Coordinate with business in the planning, testing, and implementation of system enhancements in the assigned application area.

-  Create and maintain project deliverables such as business requirements document utilizing design tools such as IBM's ReqPro and Use Case Modeling.

-  Research and document business needs.

Education:

Bachelor’s degree in functional/business area supported or in related information technology field (e.g. Computer Science, Information Sciences, Information Systems) required or equivalent technical knowledge and experience. 

Skills:

More than five years experience in supporting financial applications.

More than 2 years experience desired in PowerPlant, Movaris, Secretariat and Executrack; including functional requirements, system configuration, and report creation.

Previous experience with a multi-subsidiary utility company environment and with integration and conversions of new operations from legacy systems to assigned application area is preferred. 

Knowledge:

- Knowledge of the functional business process for the assigned  support group.

- Extensive application and module knowledge of assigned application area in PowerPlant related to SOX compliance.

- Understanding of Powerbuilder, SQL, Oracle Database Tools, and Citrix.

- Understanding of legacy systems integration, data conversion analysis, business rules definitions, workflow processing, and analytical reporting tools.

- Solid understanding of requirements mapping and analysis, business process reengineering, data structures and software limitations.

- Knowledge of Microsoft Office products and productivity tools  (e.g. word processing, spreadsheet, presentation, database, project planning, Lotus Notes)

- Understanding of the Information Technology solutions and processes.

- A functional background in financial systems, depreciation, budgeting, income tax, or personal/real ad valorem taxes.

Prior experience serving in a lead role supporting web-based solutions.
