Position Description:Chevron Corporation is one of the world’s leading energy companies. Headquartered in San Ramon, California, and conducting business in approximately 180 countries, the company is engaged in every aspect of the oil and natural gas industry, including exploration and production; refining, marketing and transportation; chemicals manufacturing and sales; and power generation. Chevron North America Exploration and Production is accepting online applications for the position of Facilities Engineer, i-field located in Houston, Texas or Evanston, Wyoming.Overview:The Mid-Continent Alaska Business Unit (MCABU) is focused on achieving Operational Excellence with the assistance of Operational Transformation. The Operational Transformation program is designed to focus on automation, artificial intelligence, re-engineered equipment, new and currently not applied technology, to achieve significantly improved reliability and overall operating efficiency, a step change in environmental performance and a significant operational footprint reduction. The i-field organization plays a key role in this transformation by combining new work processes with advanced technology and new skill sets. This transformation will require the development and implementation of new solutions and standards, as well as a focus on maximizing the value of existing technologies and solutions. This i-field Engineering position is ideal for development of high-potential Facilities Engineers. It will provide the engineer with an expanded technical knowledge base (IT, SCADA, Ops), an understanding of integration of work process with technology, and experience in leading small teams. The i-field Engineer will support specific Strategic Business Unit (SBU) i-field projects and strategic efforts, as defined by the Strategic Business Unit (SBU) i-field Project Manager. This includes technical engineering design and support, project planning and execution, field implementation/execution, and integration with other Business Unit (BU) initiatives (Base Business, IT, etc.). With respect to field implementation/execution, the position has responsibility for managing the work of field crews and contract field supervisors, and for establishing strong working relationships with Operations, Facility Engineering, i-field, and other automation teams. Qualifications:Key Responsibilities:• Manage field testing of new technology solutions. Work with necessary groups (Ops, FE, PE, Drilling, IT, etc.) to properly plan the field implementation, acquisition of data, and post-test analysis of data.• Utilize project management tools, including establishment of project scope and plan (activity schedule, deliverables), cost tracking, and HES/risk mitigation activities (JSA, MOC, etc.).• Manage the resources required for assigned projects, including field operations personnel and contract field crews.• Understand business requirements and technical definitions, translating these requirements into the technical design for the solution.• Utilize own subject matter expertise (Operations, Engineering, Surface Facilities, HES, etc.). to influence the technical design.• Work with strategic partners, vendors, and domain experts from other parts of the corporation to assist in designing, implementing, testing, and validating tools and technology.• Interface with non-SBU technical groups such at Energy Technology Company (ETC), experts from other BU’s, and with other i-field technology projects within Chevron to insure best practices are shared across BU’s and across functional domains.• Liaise with the other i-field projects underway across Chevron.• Development of compression optimization solutions, including the construction of a Compression Decision Support Center• Development of Operations surveillance solutions, including the including the construction of an Operations Surveillance Decision Support Center• Development of technical solutions for energy management, including monitoring and optimization of energy usage on specific pieces of equipment as well as field-wide optimization of energy usage.• Planning and implementation of small-scale field tests of new technology to prove viability and reliability of technical solution.Required (Basic) Qualifications• Bachelor’s degree required in Engineering (Electrical, Mechanical, Chemical, Process Engineering).• Traveling to various project locations throughout the business unit will be required. • I-field Facilities Engineer should have knowledge of oilfield operations and will require coordination with operations, facility engineering, i-field, and automation team members.• Basic knowledge of and experience with use of tools and processes, as well as other project management tools (cost tracking, resource scheduling, etc.). Some experience with leading a team through project delivery.• Technical knowledge spanning at least some or all of these domains:o Upstream Oil and Gaso Understanding of field operations key processes and procedureso SCADA/Surveillance technologyo Upstream Facilities Design Principles & Methodso i-field/Digital Oilfield Experience• Interest in new technologies and practical application of technology. Creativity in seeking out technical solutions.• Demonstrates leadership qualities. • Desire to lead a team, including strong team working skills. • Ability to manage personnel (ops personnel, contract field crews, etc.) through field/onsite implementation.• Effectively communicates at all levels of the organization.
