Fiber Optic Technician BLACKSBURG, VA USFiber Optic Technician with Baker Hughes ProductionQuest to be located in Blacksburg, VA.Job Duties and Responsibilities:Assemble and test fiber optic sensors, instrumentation systems, and connectors. Activities include 1) optical fiber termination, 2) cleaving and splicing, 3) fiber optic sensor assembly, 4) mechanical assembly, 5) testing, and 6) record keeping. Majority of work is performed in a production laboratory environment with up to 50-75% of work performed in a clean room. Troubleshoots, tests, and assembles electro-mechanical assemblies. Assists in reworking, repairing, and modifying non-conforming equipment. Performs complex and difficult tests with minimal instruction and documentation. May build test fixtures. Provides technical support to other groups and co-workers. Train other technicians.Skills and Requirements:The successful candidate will have the ability to follow detailed instructions, be comfortable performing repetitive tasks (some under a microscope), have a desire to learn, and enjoy working as part of a team. Basic skills on soldering and assembling of electro/mechanical devices. Ability to find solutions to difficult technical problems. Proficient in the use of oscilloscopes.Education, Experience and Training:Fiber optic experience is required. MS Office, hand tool and clean room experience are a plus. HS diploma or equivalent and 3+ years experience is required. Associates degree preferred.Fiber Optics Assembly and Technician.
