Field Service - Applications Engineer

The Application Engineer will be responsible for providing professional, consulting engineering services to Bloom Energy customers. Other job responsibilities would include technical site analysis; manage customer relationship and some level of project management. Knowledge of electrical distribution systems, mechanical systems, various test and measurement equipments, electrical codes, electronic principals and theory is essential.

Role and Responsibilities:

§ Interface directly with customers to understand their needs Performs many complicated work related tasks on various product lines
§ Present customer’s technical (particularly interface, regulatory & code) requirements to engineering and sales & marketing
§ Support and train sales (account managers, systems engineers and field service engineers) on how to create customer solution Provides guidance to others on complicated situations
§ Engage consulting engineering firms
§ Work with customers, field sales, technical support and engineering team to resolve escalated problems
§ Manage custom installation projects and help with the deployment and field testing of fuel cell products
§ Educate customers on basic operation of their equipment 

Skills and Experience:

§ Degree in electrical and or mechanical engineering
§ California PE license a bonus
§ Strong background in facilities, power systems, and interconnection of the grids
§ 5+ years of experience in installing distributed power generation systems

§ Knowledge of codes (NEC, NFPA), standards (IEEE 1547, UL 1741, Rule 21 and other interconnection standards) and regulations (city, state and federal) is essential
§ Basic understanding of fuel cell operation desired, but not required
§ Professional & collaborative – comfortable working closely with a team
§ Self-starter - the successful candidate must show the ability to work independently and possess a HIGHLY motivated personality

§ Flexible schedules (weekends, evenings, and holidays)
§ Valid driver’s license
