Provide accounting and reporting support to the teams managing BHP Billiton Petroleum's producing assets in the Gulf of Mexico Region

This position reports to the Finance Manager - GOM Production Unit and Joint Interest Unit within the Petroleum Production Finance Team Experience & Qualifications Required Undergraduate degree in business, finance or accounting MBA &/or CPA is strongly preferred 3-5 years of experience in the oil and gas industry (preferably in upstream E&P or energy industry audit) with knowledge of revenue, production, joint interest, fixed asset, and cost accounting. Strong Excel and PowerPoint skills Excellent analytical skills with strong proficiency in enterprise wide business systems including SAP, business warehouses, etc Knowledge of petroleum industry best practices and accounting standards Exceptional interpersonal skills, a collaborative style, and the ability to communicate effectively at all levels A self-starter who works well without close supervision Strong customer focus with good judgment and problem solving skills Accountabilities

Accounting & Reporting Monthly balance sheet review Ad hoc reporting and analysis as needed Monthly accrual preparation High level review of Fixed Asset movements and depreciation charges for the production unit Preparation of GSAP master data maintenance requests Assisting in the coordination and preparation of Petroleum Operational reviews and other group requirements at half-year and year end

Financial Analysis & Business Support Maintain forecasting models and interface closely with Finance Advisors who are responsible for providing business inputs to the forecast process Prepare quarterly variance analysis for production unit team costs Provide finance input to the running of the Production Unit's engineering management of change process Monthly corporate reporting Monthly operating cost analysis (includes ensuring all costs chargeable to joint venture partners are captured and billed) Periodic attendance at offsite inventory counts Cash call preparation and analysis Work with the Petroleum Joint Venture group and Finance Advisors in managing the Joint Venture audit process.

Process Improvement & Controls Directly participate and contribute to the creation and delivery of improved processes, standardized reports, and enhanced leverage of technology in order to meet the overall financial stewardship objectives of the Production Finance organization Implement, communicate, and facilitate standard finance processes as established by the Change Management & Process Improvement team for assigned assets Monitor all appropriate internal controls Maintain Sarbanes Oxley control documentation (process documentation, evaluation, and evidencing effectiveness) Assist in system initiatives including process improvements of GSAP's Plant Maintenance system, project tracking software, Enterprise Upstream, and PRA
