Chevron Environmental Management Company (EMC) is accepting online applications for the position of Financial Analyst located in Houston, Texas through May 23, 2008.Overview:EMC’s Upstream Business Unit (UBU) is responsible for managing Chevron Upstream’s long-term environmental liabilities. This position provides analytical support in the development, recommendation, reporting and monitoring of the annual business plan and actual project spend. Ideal candidate has 3-5 years of financial analysis experience, a strong background in performance tracking and SAP. Must have ability to efficiently work with complex excel worksheets. Multiple stakeholders and regulatory complexity in many US and International locations can drive significant costs and opportunities to reduce lifecycle costs. Successful candidates must demonstrate commitment to safety (OE), strategic decision making processes (CSOC) as well as display a customer service work ethic. Some travel is required. Qualifications:Key Job Responsibilities for this position may include but are not limited to:Manage Upstream Business Unit (UBU) analysis and tracking:• Download data from SAP• Perform periodic analysis of reserves. Incorporate SAP data to support the reserve update process. • Update and track scorecard, safety stewardship metrics, and project milestones for submission to EMC UBU management. • Review and populate safety plan data sheet. This includes effort to collect area specific data for 13 specific tracking metrics, manage RCA tabular detail sheet to track monthly incidents as well as corrective actions and status.• Level III audit data entry and trackingMaintain UBU performance metrics and financial performance reporting:• Provide timely and accurate reporting to enable project managers to better manage business as well as provide customer a view of how we are managing allocated funds. Examples: Life to date spend/forecast reporting, project spend reports, ad hoc reporting requested by customer. Updating and creating new graphs to serve the business. A knowledge of excel pivot tables is helpful.• Assist in the preparation of the annual business plan with budget and initiative summaries.• Prepare monthly/quarterly reports to support customer interactions (planners, finance, EMC Business Services, Project Managers, etc.)• Coordinate efforts from area administrators as well as manage financial roll up. This includes ensuring proper linking of execution plans to a consolidated roll up, changing (names/locations) of EP, managing master lists, ensuring that any newly added WBS elements are captured, reconciling actual spend input for each area to SAP. Inputting and monitoring unallocated G&A, reconciling the funding source, reserve reporting and spend type within the roll up. • Set up and update excel based execution plans for project managersOther customer support:• Partner with finance to satisfy ad hoc accounting related requests from each area• Assist COF Team with analytical and presentation materials. • Coordinate leadership team meeting activities and track action itemsRequired (Basic) Qualifications:• BS/BA finance, accounting, engineering or business related.• Three to five years of financial analysis experience. • Strong background in performance tracking and SAP. • Superior Excel skills with advanced capabilities in working with complex worksheets.
