Generator Excitation Engineer Training Class

About the Opportunity

EX2100 Generator Excitation Engineers must have a working knowledge of gas/steam turbine maintenance and operational theory. Excitation Engineers will install, commission, and troubleshoot the Turbine Excitation, Digital electronic starters, and Digital Generator Protection Systems for gas and steam turbines. 

After successfully completing a valuable two-week training course in Schenectady, NY, Excitation Engineers will have the opportunity to work in various worldwide locations at very competitive wages. 

Duties will consist of, but are not limited to, the following activities:
- Trace through the software documentation
- Implement control constant modifications
- Reading and Modifying software sequencing
- Set up and modify the hardware and software associated with the turbine Excitation system
- Implement excitation control system software changes
- Work with both DOS and Windows NT based operator interfaces
- Work with both analog and digital controls including logic
- Install and terminate wiring, complete functionality checks, and troubleshooting the turbine excitation system. Perform start-up/shut-down sequencing and turbine/generator operation.

Course Objectives:
- Describe the function and operation, perform basic start-up checks and perform basic troubleshooting techniques on generators, excitation systems, analog regulators, protective relays, solid-state power conversion modules, transformers and circuit breakers in an operating power plant.
- Start-up, calibrate and troubleshoot to the component level the EX2100 and Silco 5 Digital Excitation Systems, Digital Generator Protective relay (DGP) and Digital electronic starter (LCI).
