Chevron Energy Technology Company is accepting online applications for the position of Hazard Communication Specialist located in Richmond, California through May 15. 2008.Overview:Part of a team responsible for preparing Material Safety Data Sheets (MSDS) and labeling recommendations for Chevron operating companies. Qualifications:Key Job Responsibilities for this position may include but are not limited to:• Responsible for preparation of Material Safety Data Sheets (MSDS) and label recommendations for Chevron operating companies in compliance with relevant global regulations and company policies. • Researches various regulatory and HES requirements (chemical composition, hazard evaluation, fire protection, handling and storage requirements, selection of PPE, transportation classification, chemical inventory status, etc.). • Understands and is familiar with applicable international, federal and state regulations.• Coordinates with the business units and their suppliers to collect and determine adequacy of available information. • Uses software tools to prepare MSDS. Publishes final documents to online software for viewing and distribution by the business unit on the intranet and internet. • TECHNICAL KNOWLEDGE: Toxicology, biology, chemistry fundamentals; Ability to apply toxicology and phys/chem data to the safe handling of chemicals; Knowledge of hazard communication and chemical control regulations a plus• TEAMWORK: Ability to work in a team atmosphere and to work independently• COMPUTER SKILLS: Ability to learn complex databases; Attention to computer-use ergonomic issues• COMMUNICATION: Excellent communication skills, both oral and written; Promotes understanding of customer requirements and expectations; Able to communicate effectively with technical and non-technical personnel• FLEXIBILITY: Able to work effectively on multiple assignments concurrently; Experience working with multiple customers; Reprioritizes work quickly to meet changing demands.Required (Basic) Qualifications:• Bachelor’s degree in Toxicology, Chemistry, Biology or other life sciences -OR-• 5 plus year experience with MSDS authoring or experience with product formulation development and chemistry or refining operations.Relocation Options:Relocation will not be considered.International Considerations:Expatriate Assignment will not be considered.EOE M/F/D/V Learn more about Chevron Location:US-CA-Richmond Status:Full Time, Employee Job Category:Quality Assurance/Safety
