Chevron Energy Technology Company is accepting online applications for the position of HES Specialist located in Houston, Texas through May 12, 2008.Overview:Chevron’s Energy Technology Company is seeking talented and energetic candidates to fill a Health, Environment and Safety Specialist position in Houston, Texas. We are currently looking for a candidate to join our HES Operation’s Unit team that provides health, environmental and safety services to clients in the greater Houston Area, and occasionally to clients in Louisiana and remote locations.This position reports to the HES Operations Unit Team Manager for the Gulf Coast Region and will be located at Chevron’s Briarpark Technology Center in West Houston. Daily functional guidance may also come from the Unit’s other regional team leaders and/or subject matter experts. Qualifications:Key Job Responsibilities for this position may include but are not limited to:• Develop and implement health, environmental and safety programs to help ensure regulatory compliance for client organizations including, but not limited to: work permitting, chemical inventory, Job Safety Analysis, Incident Investigation, MOC, etc. • Facilitate Process Hazards Analysis for lab bench scale and pilot scale research projects. • Facilitate HES incident investigations, make required incident notifications, and coordinate implementation of appropriate corrective actions to incident root causes• Act as Operational Excellence advisor on various OE procedures for client organizations. Lead or participate in OE procedure development and implementation as needed.• Coordinate OSHA VPP program for long term OSHA Star site.• Coordinate Radiation safety program. • Create and deliver training on a variety of compliance topics• Act as a representative with governmental agencies on behalf of the company• Support daily operations and project support of research laboratories, field operations and office settings• Conduct workplace hazard identification & reduction program reviews, and coordinate implementation of appropriate follow-up actions. This includes multiple industrial safety programs and the industrial hygiene and chemical inventory programs.• Conduct compliance assurance audits, inspections and reviews.• Assist with obtaining and maintaining site permits, and legal/regulatory inspections and reporting.• Experience in an industrial, laboratory, or process operations environment is desired. • Upstream oil and gas experience is beneficial.• Knowledge of safety design standards, incident investigation procedures, industrial systems, petroleum industry materials and wastes, and general environmental and safety regulations is desired.• Occasional travel (10%) may be required.Required (Basic) Qualifications:• Bachelor’s degree in industrial hygiene, safety sciences, environmental sciences, engineering, or public healthPreferred Qualifications:• Current certification or the ability to achieve the following certificates is desired: Certified Safety Professional (CSP) and/or Certified Industrial Hygienist (CIH)Relocation Options:Relocation may be considered within Chevron parameters.International Considerations:Expatriate Assignment will not be considered.EOE M/F/D/V Learn more about Chevron Location:US-TX-Houston Status:Full Time, Employee Job Category:Quality Assurance/Safety
