Health & Safety Manager

Health and Safety Manager - Waltham, MA



The H&S Manager provides leadership support in developing and implementing health and safety programs for facilities throughout the Northeast.

 

 

Responsibilities include:

§ Ensuring all health and safety policies, procedures and practices are effectively and consistently implemented throughout the Region.  Collaborating with other Regional EHS staff members, corporate groups and other Business Units on the development and deployment of projects and initiatives.

§ Managing H&S staff and ensuring continual professional development of personnel.

§ Overseeing effective incident investigations to determine root causes and appropriate corrective actions. Trending and analyzing incident patterns to determine focus areas.

§ Participating in budget preparation and tracking.

§ Coaching all levels of personnel on critical skills, behaviors and techniques that build and sustain a high performance safety culture.

§ Managing the development of training related to operating procedures and safe work practices that relate to regulatory requirements and EHS risk mitigation. 

§ Ensuring timely EHS technical support is provided to facilities.

§ Representing Spectra Energy at various industry associations through participation on committees or task teams.

 

Minimum Qualifications

§ Bachelor of Science degree in the area of Safety & Health studies or related field

§ Seven years of full time professional safety experience with a strong knowledge of Health & Safety regulations

§ Two years experience supervising/managing professional staff

§ Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively (verbal and written) with wide variety of audiences

§ Understanding of risk management, behavior based health & safety approaches and EHS management systems

§ Ability to develop and deliver presentations and training at all levels of the organization

§ Demonstrated proficiency in the use of computers and Microsoft Office products

§ Must possess a valid driver license and able to accommodate frequent overnight travel

 

Desired Qualifications

§ Certified Safety Professional (CSP), Certified Industrial Hygienist (CIH), other EHS related certifications and/or advanced college degree

§ Direct experience with health & safety data management systems

§ Experience in the Energy industry

§ Trained in TaPRoot incident investigation
