Hydraulic Engineer

Advantica is a world leader in software and engineering services focused on the utility industry.  We put advanced simulation and optimization capabilities into the hands of business people and in order to continue to lead the industry, we are seeking mechanical, chemical or civil engineers to work in our Software Solutions practice.

This individual may provide technical support, training of Stoner Software products, computer modeling and engineering analysis, GIS implementation and data conversion services.  Additional responsibilities will involve working with the quality assurance and product development teams in completing assigned product testing and product development tasks.

 

Essential Functions:

·Present 2-5 day training courses on modeling theory and Stoner software functionality at the home office and at client sites.

·Contribute to the design and maintenance of training materials and workshop problems.

·Participate actively in the planning and execution of the annual TEAM meeting.

·Perform software design and quality assurance testing of new releases.

·Provide technical support for the marketing of Stoner products.  This includes answering preliminary questions about the capabilities of the software as well as performing software demonstrations.

·Provide timely and thorough responses to phone, fax, or electronic mail support queries from clients using Stoner products.  This may include a range of questions from software installation to model building assistance, to data review, etc.

·Contribute to the content and review of written product documentation

·Proactively contact clients and discuss their usage and satisfaction with Advantica software

·Perform assigned projects and tasks to achieve completion of each project and/or task on schedule and within budget while meeting or exceeding each client’s reasonable expectations, so that the client is satisfied with the quality and value of the services they receive. 


Skills, Education, Experience:

Required

·BS  in civil, mechanical or chemical engineering

·Excellent written and oral communication skills.

·Excellent organizational skills.

·Excellent presentation skills.

·Working knowledge of MS Office applications or related software.

 

Desired

·Working knowledge of databases.  Able to setup basic queries in applications such as Oracle or Access.

·Experience in working with utilities, specifically with hydraulic and/or power distribution simulation technology, to include developing computer models from various data sources.

·Basic knowledge of GIS.

·Experienced in SynerGEE or other Stoner Software products.

·Basic knowledge of MS Project

·Foreign language skills a plus.

·Some programming experience in C++ or Visual Basic
