IT Data Architect (Principal IT Technical Specialist)Exelon Corporation is looking for a Principal IT Technical Specialist (Data Architect) to work in their downtown their downtown Philadelphia or Kennett Square locations at Pennsylvania (preferable) or Chicago location at Chase Tower.PRIMARY PURPOSE OF POSITION Partner with IT and business teams at power trading organization (Power Team) to provide the necessary leadership to drive overall data strategy, architecture and other emerging data technology solutions (e.g., data mart/warehouse, data integration, master data management) by weighing advantages of the existing data standards / principles, market availability of products, and risks / benefits of technology introduction into Exelon’s computing environment. Provide comprehensive consultation to business unit and IT management and staff at the highest technical level for data architecture and overall Enterprise Information System (EIS) possibly based on the standard such as Common Information Model (CIM).Lead efforts to establish comprehensive conceptual data model and facilitate proper governance processes. PRIMARY DUTIES AND ACCOUNTABILITIES Work with IT and business teams to establish data strategy and identify technology solutions to achieve business results. Ensure appropriate implementation of technology within both the development and production environments. For architecture: Establish data architecture strategy that aligns with the business strategy. Design and develop overall data architecture and investigate emerging (e.g., master data management) technology solutions for Exelon Power Team (energy trading organization): For engineering: Perform design and engineering functions for comprehensive data architecture and integration solutions; oversee the introduction of new data architecture and integration technology solutions into the operations environment by utilizing Exelon’s standard governance process.Provide data architecture and modeling technical expertise and ability to abstract details to high level principles. Advice to IT leadership in the development of data strategy plans to support business strategies. Establish, maintain and enhance relationships with business and IT partners. Ability to gain influence and buy-in with peers and management. Communicate status to key stakeholders on a regular basis.Maintain deep understanding in area of data architecture and technology solutions (data integration, movement, archiving, etc.); evaluate new technologies or technology opportunities and provide analysis of their potential impact to advantage the business; Experience with industry standard data models.Provide input to IT managers on performance of IT personnel to assist in performance evaluations, career development, and recognition.POSITION SPECIFICATIONS Minimum: Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or related discipline and solid, diverse experience in IT, with a focus in data architecture and engineering or equivalent combination of education and work experience.Appropriate technical skills in architecting and engineering data architecture solutions.In-depth knowledge of infrastructure and operations.Comprehensive understanding of change management techniques associated with new technology implementation. Experience producing an economic business case.Demonstrated leadership ability.Strong judgment; excellent analytical ability and consulting skills. Excellent communications skills and ability to work effectively with all levels of IT and business management and with vendors.Preferred: Graduate degree in area of technical specialty.POSITION SCOPE Maintains deep knowledge of technology and its application across Exelon. Promotes knowledge via seminars, presentations and publications within IT and Exelon. Determines appropriate theories, practices and principles that relate the technology to Exelon’s business.
