IT System Administrator

Develop and implement strategies for managing servers and computer systems relevant to Network Operations. Work with project sponsors to specify, coordinate, and implement server-based projects. Plan, organize and oversee the integration of these systems into the Network. Maintain and enhance servers and associated equipment to support the business requirements of the Enterprise.


KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

·  Bachelors Degree in Computer Science or related field or Associates Degree in Computer Science or related field with minimum two years working experience in database administration.

·  Pursuit of Microsoft Certified Database Administrator (MCDBA) certification encouraged.

·  Working technical experience with designing, building, installing, configuring and supporting database servers, including Microsoft SQL Server.

·  Hands-on database tuning and troubleshooting experience including database access and performance issues.

·  Knowledge of applicable data privacy practices and laws.

·  Basic understanding of database structures, theories, principles, and practices.

·  Basic proactive customer service and follow-up skills with the ability to maintain a professional relationship with customers and staff, including times exposed to various and frequent customer demands and multiple timelines.

·  Ability to work independently, making decisions within your span of control.

·  Ability to work on projects in a team environment.

·  Demonstrated knowledge of Project Management methodology.

·  Demonstrated oral and written communications skills including, but not limited to interpersonal, organizational, communications, documentation, and troubleshooting.

·  Basic working knowledge of Windows environments, including servers, workstations, networking and other hardware platforms

 

ESSENTIAL AND MARGINAL FUNCTIONS: 

·  Advising Chief Information Officer on database-related issues, including, but not limited to problems, resolutions requests for new databases and/or database applications, configurations, backups, proposed projects and/or associated costs.

·  Perform cost estimates for data migration to new databases during upgrades, and plan and coordinate these migrations.

·  Design and deploy data table structures, forms, reports, and queries.

·  Work with application development staff to develop database architectures, coding standards, and quality assurance policies and procedures.
