IT Systems Support Specialist and Network Administrator

 

Rapidly growing directional drilling services provider seeks an organized, detail-oriented individual to serve as IT Systems Support Specialist and Network Administrator.  The Company serves leading natural gas E&P companies and boasts an established reputation for quality and dependability.  The Company differentiates itself through its experienced management team, well-trained workforce and proprietary equipment, which result in superior service and significant cost savings for the Company’s customers.  The Company has experienced rapid growth every year since its founding in 2001, and now needs to upgrade its IT systems and processes in order to manage future growth.

 

Detailed Role Overview:

 

This position provides support and assistance to the business in the technical aspects of business software use.  Primary duties include database management, reporting writing and programming to achieve integration between various databases and/or systems.  The position also supports the on-going operation of company servers, printers, employee desktop and laptop PCs, backups, peripherals, and telecommunications. Other responsibilities will include: (i) managing the administration of all hardware & software, disaster/recovery and overall network administration; (ii) directing special IT projects and effectively managing the resources needed to complete projects to meet deadlines; (iii) evaluating new software and hardware before making integration recommendations to the executive management team; (iv) establishing policies and procedures for IT planning and change management; and (v) maintaining asset tracking of hardware and software licensing, registrations, service agreements, service records, service support, offsite storage, and for other resources, and services expenditures.

 

Responsibilities and Requirements:

 

ü Provide daily support to business users of Company software systems.  Learn and support existing Company accounting, inventory management and field service software packages.  Communicate with software vendors to provide troubleshooting and problem resolution for business users.

 

ü Build, maintain and modify data reports and queries from Microsoft SQL Server and Access databases.  Use knowledge of relational database structure and report building tools such as SQL Server Reporting Services, Crystal Reports or other standard report packages to extract data in a useful format that provides information to support business operations.

 

ü Provide programming support for the integration of various business software systems.  Understand and apply programming concepts that allow sharing/updating of data between various systems with Microsoft SQL Server and/or Access databases.  Know and apply concepts of scripts, triggers and/or other data transfer mechanisms.

 

ü Assist in providing training and documenting work procedures for business use of Company software systems.

 

ü Recommend add-on technologies and customizations to Company software systems that will provide efficiencies to business operations.

 

ü Maintain a highly-skilled working knowledge of Microsoft Office 2003/2007 (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Access) as well as Microsoft XP and Vista Operating Systems.

 

ü Work closely with business groups to meet their computer technology needs.  Provide ongoing and technology-project support for office and remote users with varying computer skill levels.

 

ü Provide server administration duties including the configuration and maintenance of Windows Server 2003 (with Active Directory), Exchange Server 2003 and Microsoft SQL Server 2005.  Install Microsoft system patches and perform software upgrades as necessary.

 

ü Implement and utilize appropriate antivirus and spyware countermeasures, patches, and system updates.

 

ü Understand and maintain LAN and VPN operations, including TCIP configurations, Routing and Remote Access Service (RRAS), TCP/IP, DHCP, WINS and DNS.

 

ü Maintain accurate and current system documentation.  Manage multiple vendor services.

 

ü Report on problems, developments, issues, and activities related to systems, systems use and systems planning to the executive management team.  Reports may be daily, weekly or monthly.

 

Educational/Professional Requirements:

 

§ B.A. or B.S. Degree in Computer Science or Related Field.

§ 3-5 years experience providing software systems support specifically utilizing database/data reporting technologies and  systems integration concepts, including project management

§ Microsoft Certifications Preferred (specifically, SQL Server 2005, Windows Messaging (Exchange) and Windows Server 2003)

§ Excellent written and oral communication skills.

 

Compensation is comprised of salary and annual bonus, will be commensurate with experience, and is expected to be $50K-$70K.  In addition, the Company offers medical, vision and dental benefits.
