As our Insurance and Risk Manager you will develop and oversee risk and insurance programs to protect the company from loss, utilizing insurance coverage as well as safety and risk management techniques and programs.
Essential Functions:
1. Identify, develop and implement risk management programs, policies and initiatives including analysis and recognition of trends and risk mitigation programs to manage exposure and loss.
2. Work collaboratively with all functional groups to identify exposures, risks and trends, and establish standard procedures to mitigate exposures and risks.
3. Analyze and identify risks for new and existing projects and recommend appropriate course of action designed to maintain the effectiveness of Vestas’ risk management and insurance program. Coordinate and work with parent company and insurance broker to ensure projects are properly integrated into Vestas’ master insurance program.
4. Manage the administration of insurance contracts needed for construction projects. Develop special insurance programs as needed for new project and functional groups.
5. Review and negotiate contract provisions relating to insurance in all contracts and ensure compliance with appropriate insurance contracts and the corporation’s interests.
6. Administer policies and endorsements for all insurance programs. Review policies and endorsements to ensure documents are accurate and consistent with insurance proposals. Obtain corrective endorsements as appropriate.
7. Maintain information concerning the insurance program and disseminate information to functional groups as appropriate. Effectively communicate Vestas’ insurance program both orally and in writing.
8. Assess, analyze and classify risks as to frequency and potential severity, measure financial impact of risk on company, respond with contractual and financial risk solutions to support business decisions and advise management.
9. Oversee insurance programs in areas of property, casualty, umbrella, builder’s risk, automobile, and professional liability. Manage the insurance renewal process including budget planning, evaluating insurance programs to ensure proper coverage, assimilating renewal information, and overseeing the issuance of certificates.
10. Oversee claims management activities. Develop and manage monthly loss reserve reconciliation and monthly accruals.
11. Set company guidelines, standards and policies for insurance requirements for all approved vendors. Coordinate and manage activities involving broker selection, corporate insurance programs, corporate risk assessment, and related claims processing and analysis.
12. Direct the management of the insurance program administration: Certificates of Insurance, Bonds, Automobile Identification Cards, State Insurance filings, Contract Reviews, taxes and assessments.
13. Oversee the preparation and submission of the documentation on insured losses to insurance company for collection, including maintenance of current and historical information concerning insurance costs and losses.
14. Review, evaluate and implement changes to the risk management and insurance program to fit with Vestas’ strategic business plan.
Education, Training & Skills Required:
§ Bachelor's degree in business, finance, risk management; MBA preferred.
§ 15+ years of demonstrated experience in the general insurance industry or equivalent combination of education and experience
§ Risk experience in the construction or utility industry desired.
§ Professional insurance certifications (AIC, CPCU, ARM) desired.
§ Extensive knowledge of insurance markets and products.
§ Experience in managing insurance broker relationships; ability to maintain positive professional relationship with brokers, insurers, vendors, and clients.
§ Solid knowledge and understanding of contract terms and conditions including insurance contracts and endorsements, claims and loss control/prevention techniques.
§ Knowledge of enterprise risk concepts.
§ Knowledge of loss control/claims management practices.
§ Excellent negotiating skills.
§ Demonstrated problem solving, analytical, and evaluation skills.
§ Demonstrated verbal and written communication skills.
