JOB DESCRIPTION:

Laboratory Assistant

Performs entry-level laboratory tasks, including sample preparation and preparation of reagents and standards, labware cleaning, sample logging including chain of custody tracking. Assists in the performance of analytical testing under supervision until qualification is achieved. Once qualifiation and proficiency is achieved, the Laboratory Assistant performs analyses as assigned.

Associate Laboratory Technician

Performs environmental field sampling of surface water, ground water, storm water, wastewater, etc. In the laboratory setting, performs basic, routine analytical procedures such as pH, Solids, Oil & Grease, Karl Fisher Moisture, Specific Gravity, and others. Performs routine calibration checks for lab instruments. Records data, mintains records. Performs General Laboratory assignments such as cleaning glassware or sample containers, preparing reagents and standards, moving, connecting and disconnecting gas cylinders, etc. Orders laboratory supplies. Assists in the work of Lab Technicians and Senior Laboratory Technicians as assigned.

Laboratory Technician

Performs environmental field sampling of surface water, ground water, storm water, wastewater, etc. Plans, Prepares for, and executes environmental sampling at the direction Prepares and Analyzes water, fuel or oil samples using various laboratory instruments. Prepares environmental reports, reviews environmental data. Calibrates, maintains, troubleshoots and performs some reapirs on labroatory equipment and instruments as required. Prepares reports, reviews data and assists with the writing and review of procedures. Works with laboratory leads and other technicians to prepare and analyze large volumes of samples to meet production requirements.

 

 

JOB QUALIFICATIONS:

Laboratory Assistant

High School Graduate with curriculum that included chemistry and mathmatics. College Level Chemistry course completion is desireable. Good oral and written communication skills are required. Laboratory experience is desireable.

Associate Laboratory Technician

Associates Degree in Chemistry or related applicable science, or equivalent is preferred with 3 years laboratory experience. High School Diploma with knowledge of chemistry and 5 years laboratory experience.

Laboratory Technician

Bachelor of Science in Chemistry or related applicable science and 3 years laboratory experience or Associates Degree in Chemistry or related applicable science with 5 years laboratory experience is preferred. A high school diploma with a good knowledge of basic chemistry and general laboratory analytical methods along with 7 years of chemistry laboratory is acceptable in lieu of an associates degree. Previous environmental sampling experience, or analytical experience in coal, oil, or water analysis is desireable. Should have proven skills to demonstrate the ability to cross-qualify in various laboratory areas to provide a wide base of lab support. The position requires a high degree of responsibility and accountability to achieve customer satisfaction.

Advanced Laboratory Technician

Bachelor of Science in Chemistry or related applicable science and 5 years laboratory experience in an analytical chemistry laboratory is preferred. Associates Degree with 7 years analytical laboratory experience may be acceptable in lieu of a bachelors degree.
