JOB TITLE: Manager, Clinton Shop Operations
REPORTING RELATIONSHIP: Directly reports to the Director, DTE Rail Services, Inc.
BASED AT: Clinton, Indiana
JOB PURPOSE
This management position in DTE Rail Services is responsible for safety, environmental compliance, productivity, profitability, employee retention and customer satisfaction within the Clinton, Indiana facility. The objective of this position is to assist in all aspects of the management of the Clinton, Indiana operations as a collaborative member of the management team of DTE Rail Services.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
§ Oversee all aspects of the Clinton, Indiana Railcar Repair Operation.
§ Responsible for customer contacts for estimates, revisions, and problems.
§ Oversees the bids and quotes process for railcar repairs.
§ Manages all aspects of personnel including hiring, recognition, performance management and termination.
§ Responsible for the enforcement of rules, policies, and expectations through coaching, counseling and/or discipline.
§ Develop employees to maximize their performance potential through setting standards, goal setting, monitoring and mentoring.
§ Holds fiscal responsibility for the overall operational performance.
§ Develop, implement and maintain consistent plant operating philosophies and best practices to maximize plant availability, efficiency and productivity.
§ Maintains a positive relationship in the community.
§ Responsible for maintaining the Clinton, Indiana facility safety activities to meet or exceed organizational goals
§ Manage all operational assets.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES
A minimum of a high school or technical school degree. Seven years experience managing plant operations preferred. Railcar repair experience a plus. With experience in Quality Assurance, M-1003, estimating, billing, welding, painting, environmental issues, personnel management, and safety to provide for the following:

17. Ability to travel some to multiple Rail Services locations.

The employee in this classification will be required to frequently lift objects of up to 20 pounds in weight. Occasionally the employee may have to lift or move objects up to 50 pounds in weight.
Vision requirements for this position include close vision, depth perception and the ability to adjust focus.
WORKING CONDITIONS
The employee normally performs job duties in a climate controlled office environment, with a moderate noise level. Frequently the employee will be subject to shop and outside environmental conditions, noise and workplace hazards outside of the normal office environment.
