Manager HR- Contract Operations
American Water Enterprises(AWE), the non-regulated products and services division of American Water, has a Human Resources Manager position supporting our Contract Operations Group located in Voorhees, NJ.
AWEs non-regulated business units offer operations and maintenance contract services across the United States and Canada, including design, construction and operation of community onsite water and wastewater systems, service-line protection programs, water and wastewater management for military bases, and other innovative solutions that address a variety of challenges facing the industry.
This position provides overall HR leadership and support to the non-regulated Operations & Maintenance business operating in the United States, its territories and possessions and Canada.
Oversee the development, administration, and implementation of human resources policies, programs and services, including recruitment, selection, retention, succession planning, legal compliance, benefits, labor/employee relations, and employment practices and procedures for employees located throughout the United States and Canadian provinces.
Provide support in labor relations to include contract negotiation and administration and labor law compliance.
As a member of the AWE HR Management Team, involved in strategy development and organization design.
Act as an advisor on human resources issues to other senior management and all levels of employees throughout the company.
Key Accountabilities:
Responsible for coaching HR team and business partners to create and maintain a work environment with high morale and productivity.

Making effective and persuasive presentations on informational, controversial and/or complex topics to employee groups and management at all levels of the business.
Provide recruitment leadership by developing the most creative and cost-effective ways of generating high-quality candidates in the marketplace to company.
Develop long-term relationships with organizations and individuals that will enhance the talent pipeline flow.
Create retention programs to recognize employee potential, encourage employee development and reduce turnover.
Develop, interpret and ensure consistent application of Human Resources strategies, policies, programs and procedures.
Create and implement methods and internal standards for continual improvement of the efficiency and effectiveness of the HR function, both within the Contract Operations business unit and within AWE.
Maintain current knowledge and understanding of regulations, industry trends, current practices, new developments, and applicable laws regarding human resources.
Maintain labor law compliance and provide support for contract negotioans and administration.
Create and implement affirmative action, equal employment opportunity and diversity processes.
Enforce policies and investigate complaints regarding alleged civil rights or other violations.
Oversee the development and administration of contract acquisition and closure planning and transitioning.
Participate in contract pricing as it relates to human resources.

Current knowledge of major human resource areas (e.g. benefits, employment, labor relations) and management theories, practices and trends.
Knowledge of company and union policies and procedures; government laws or regulations affecting human resources (e.g. EEO, ADA, ERISA).
Bachelors Degree in Human Resources or related field.
Masters degree highly preferred.
10+ years of HR experience, a minimum of five of which must be at the management level
Previous experience with multi-site, multi-state, multi-functional organizations.
Experience managing the development and transition to enterprise-wide systems;.
Proven ability to provide vision and leadership.
Demonstrated capability to interface and maintain effective relationships with all business units and employees in a team-oriented environment.
SPHR preferred/PHR
