Chevron Corporation is accepting online applications for the position of Manager, Litigation and Matter Management Systems located in San Ramon, California through May 16, 2008.Overview:The Law-IT Team supports the IT needs of the global Chevron Law Function and Corporate Governance Departments. Services provided include development and support of custom applications, vendor applications and web sites, IT project management and solution consulting and information protection/compliance coordination. The team supports all practice groups including Litigation, Transaction, Environmental, Intellectual Property and Governance. The Manager, Litigation and Matter Management Systems is responsible for managing all IT services related to Chevron’s Litigation and Matter Management Systems. The position, based in San Ramon, CA manages colleagues of varying IT disciplines located in both Houston, TX and San Ramon, CA. The position is also responsible for budget, system performance, cost, and implementing projects that further the Law Function’s Strategic Objectives, while ensuring applications meet audit and information protection standards.The position is responsible for:1) Sponsoring complex and business critical projects and applications utilizing varied technologies 2) Supporting the Global Law Function in the areas of design, development, and delivery of IT systems related to Litigation and Matter Management. These include vendor products, Chevron developed applications and systems hosted by external ASPs.3) Ongoing production support for related Law Function applications.4) Assisting customers with IT strategic and business planning processes.5) Managing IT resource pool to work across the Law Function in various operating companies to support and in some cases to source major projects.6) Developing service budgets and ensuring actual costs are in alignment with budget targets7) Managing career development of the IT professionals serving the Law Function. Qualifications:Key Job Responsibilities for this position may include but are not limited to:• Delivery: Leads a team of IT programmers, project managers and business analysts in delivering and supporting technical and business solutions to the enterprise global law function which spans across operating companies. This includes:- Coordination of changes with vendor & user community - Management of resources: plans, coordinates, and schedules work, guides work priorities, obtains necessary resources, partners with customers and product managers to understand demand and priorities, assists with budget development, monitors expenditures vs. recovery, and ensures personnel have the resources and training needed to do their jobs. - Ensures appropriate use of Chevron’s Project Management methodologies (i.e. CPDEP)- Information Protection & Privacy compliance• Customer Relationships: Establishes and maintains effective customer relationships. Participates and in some cases leads customer teams in achieving workgroup initiatives. Works with customer(s) to understand business requirements and criticality of production problems. Communicates problem resolution plans and estimated time to repair with customers. Performs outage reviews and lookback reviews. Able to prioritize and handle multiple tasks across multiple customers and operating companies simultaneously. Involves customer(s) in prioritization and resourcing. Aligns resources across all Chevron IT delivery teams and 3rd parties to meet customer expectations and resolve technical issues.• Administers Performance Management Process (PMP): Administers PMP and coaches employees to improve employees’ current performance, assists in development (current assignments), and focuses activities on achieving work unit business objectives. Sets clear expectations and provides feedback. Represents employees in performance assessment and pay determination sessions. Coordinates development of training plans for each employee, makes work assignments, and assigns employees to special projects to accomplish personal development goals. Delegates effectively, facilitates conflict resolution and coaches employees.
