Manager, Site Projects - Beaver Valley

JOB DUTIES:

The Site Projects Section Manager is responsible for directing work functions, individuals, and tasks that support the management of a project throughout its entire life cycle. The position ensures the quality and acceptability of the project management process, related documentation, support systems, and associated management tools. The Section Manager also leads project managers and others during the performance of project management activities to ensure that projects are safely executed on schedule, within cost limits, and to the quality specified. This manager is responsible for assigning an individual with appropriate skills and expertise to own the project from start to finish. The position ensures that state-of-the-art project management competencies are maintained in the staff and also provides the direct link to Station Senior Management on project management activities, including the status of all projects.

This manager is responsible for ensuring that projects are managed safely and in the highest quality manner during initiation, design, planning, implementation, and close out. Capable of ensuring that project management processes, documentation, systems and tools are appropriate, adequate, consistent with industry standards, and in compliance with applicable requirements. Selects, develops, trains and/or manages project management professionals. Assists appropriate plant personnel with their understanding of related project management items. Educates appropriate personnel on any or all aspects of the project management function. Identifies internal and external interfaces for the project management function and strengthens these relationships. Develops contracting and material procurement strategies that optimize costs, schedule, and quality considerations in conjunction with procurement and contracts. Negotiates changes to contracts within the general scope of work with support of contract administration. Retains and continues to enhance the skills, education, and practical experience needed to stay current with high quality project management practices. Strives to receive industry, regulatory or other noteworthy recognition for superior performance of project management activities at Perry. Works with Fleet Project Management to improve the standardization of the project management process and overall improvement of project management performance. Incumbent is accountable for miscellaneous other responsibilities as assigned or required.

JOB QUALIFICATIONS:

Bachelors degree in technical field or 10 years technical experience, relevant experience in the nuclear industry is preferred. It is required that the incumbent obtains PMP Certification within one year of position acceptance. An SRO License or Certification is preferred. An MBA is preferred. Prior experience in project management/controls, scheduling and budget development/analysis is preferred.
