Manager of Plant Environmental and Safety

Manages, directs and supervises SGS environmental, training, health and safety functions to ensure effective and comprehensive programs, in compliance with all federal and state regulations & agreements with the EPA, FDEP and OSHA.

 

Minimum Requirements:

 

 

Education

A Bachelor's Degree or its equivalent in Natural Science or other discipline that provides a solid foundation for the duties required.

Experience

A Bachelor's Degree and a minimum of eight years of responsible experience in a fossil fuel power plant or large industrial process plant are required. An Associates degree and a minimum of two years experience can be substituted for one year of college education. Experience should include involvement with interpreting, monitoring and providing guidance in meeting the requirements of federal and state environmental, safety and health regulations and guidelines.

Abilities

General knowledge of fossil fueled power plants and their associated power and environmental process systems. Must have or be able to acquire a working knowledge of federal and state environmental and occupational safety and health laws, rules and regulations applicable to the operation of a large fossil fuel power plant or other large industrial manufacturing facility. Communicate effectively both written and verbal to maintain working relationships with employees and other departments, including contractor and regulatory agencies. Solution and result oriented to reflect Cooperative commitment, health & Safety concerns. An appreciation of operating budgets, capital, efficiency, and reliability factors.

Working

Conditions

Generally, work will be accomplished in an office environment. Travel to various locations throughout the plant and grounds; including areas outside of the plant location requiring overnight stays is necessary. Subject to 24 hour per day and seven days per week call. Must be able to wear hardhat, safety glasses, respirator and hard-soled shoes.
