Manufacturing Engineer BLACKSBURG, VA USManufacturing Engineer opportunity with Baker Hughes ProductionQuest located in Blacksburg, VAJob Duties and Responsibilities:The position will develop and maintain manufacturing processes and equipment used for fabrication of leading edge optical sensors, components and fiber optic subassemblies. The manufacturing engineer plays an active role in new product development projects and the transition of new products into manufacture, scheduling and resource allocation for production activities, and the specification and purchase of manufacturing equipment. Other duties include developing QC procedures, working with development engineers and technical writer to develop manufacturing work instructions, maintaining existing work instructions, identifying, developing and implementing improvements to manufacturing processes. Plans and conducts research and development of standard engineering assignments. Assignments can be a significant portion of a larger project. Develops and implements new production methods. Recommends and implements improvements in the production process. Selects engineering techniques to solve problems and makes sound recommendations. Assesses results for applicability, validity and conformance to specifications. May be the lead engineer on smaller project with some functional supervision. Usually works with minimum supervision, conferring with superior on unusual matters. May be assisted by entry or junior level personnel. Assists in project planning and review. Assignments are broad in nature, requiring originality and ingenuity. Assignments are reviewed for overall soundness and adherence to stated objectives. Handles special projects, as assigned.Skill Requirements:Project management experience, strong analytical skills, strong verbal and written skills, experience with MS Office are required. Fiber optic experience is a significant plus.  Good verbal and written communication skills. Good problem-solving skills. Sound working knowledge of principles, concepts, theories, and/or practices of applicable discipline. Education, Experience and Training:Bachelor's Degree in Engineering with 3+ years experience or Master's Degree in Engineering.Manufacturing Engineer, develop process, fiber optics.Additional Information: Travel Percentage: 10%
