Manufacturing Engineer - Turbines

Here is a truly exciting opportunity to be on the ground floor of an expanding division as they open a new manufacturing location in the US.  This division will manufacture turbines for the power utility industry.  The division currently has multiple manufacturing locations throughout the world and is looking to grow this location from a current of 10 employees to 350 - 400 individuals over the next several years.  They offer a very strong product and are positioned to make a large impact on the North American market.  The company is investing $200 - $300 million dollars in this 350,000 square foot facility.   This position will require a 12 – 18 month ex-patriot assignment in Europe for training in one of their existing facilities.

They are looking for several individuals to form their initial manufacturing team; in fact their goal is to promote one of their initial hires into the role of Director of Manufacturing.

The purposes of the position:To plan manufacturing processes with an optimal sequence and economicallySet up basic manufacturing  data and roles by using SAP systemProvide complete documentation for CNC programmers Provide manufacturing drawings and sketches for intermediate production stepsDefine tools and fixtures together with tool designers and ensure on time deliveryEnsure continuous manufacturing improvements in all production steps

 

Responsibilities of the position:

 

The Manufacturing Engineer is responsible for the quality and the completeness of all manufacturing processes and the necessary paper work provided to the work shop

 

Quality

•  ensures that all relevant orders have been incorporated in the processes and manufacturing steps

•  ensures that all technical specification have been carried out according to the issued paper work

•  implements all process relevant checks and tests in accordance with the I+T plan

•  is constantly seeking for improvements and provides implementation plans in all kind of process related steps and checks the results.

 

Technical tasks

•  Supports design department in technical question manufacturing related in order to optimize processes an to ensure economical use of all tools and equipment

•  Ask for design change if economical substantiated in accordance with department manager

•  Responsible for in time delivery of CNC programs and other production related documents

•  Assures that all manufacturing related tools and fixtures are being purchased and delivered on time

•  Calculates the production hours for each operation steps and checks completeness of the step in the calculated time, corrects if necessary in accordance with department manager

•  Sets up of manufacturing time calculation tables in a systematic manner and keep all documentation and procedures a jour

•  Advises design department in all manufacturing related processes

•  Searches for solution if shop floor problems occur during production together with shop floor supervisor

•  Constantly searching for rationalizations in planning and manufacturing processes and implements improvements in a systematic way (6 Sigma)

 

Educational Requirements

Engineering degree in manufacturing or design, prefer Mechanical Engineering degree.

Knowledge / Experience

·  5 years of turbine manufacturing experience in heavy manufacturing sectors based on CNC machines

 

·  Solid knowledge of quality requirement and quality checks within the production

·  Solid knowledge of rules and regulations with respect to EHS.

·  Must have knowledge of a variety of computer software applications in word processing, spreadsheets and presentation software (MS Word, Excel, Power point, Project, Access).
