Marketing Research Analyst in an exciting pre IPO company

Established in 1992, ERI’s PX Pressure Exchanger® (PX®) technology, is a unique device that recovers energy from the high-pressure waste stream from a seawater desalination reverse osmosis system at up to 98% efficiency. ERI’s patented breakthrough technology and experienced technical team have made ERI a leader in the energy recovery market and a catalyst of growth in the global desalination industry.
ERI has an exciting opportunity for a Research Analyst at our San Leandro Headquarters location. The Research Analyst will be responsible for analyzing market demand or factors affecting demand for the new or planned projects, products, services, or acquisitions. In addition, the Analyst is expected to analyze the competition, development plans, product strategies, and account strategies. The role will bring clear direction to the businesses and help grow the business.
Major responsibilities:
· Identify, monitor and coordinate resources with regard to analyzing the global desalination market.
· Develop market research/analytical capability within the organization leading to fact-based strategic marketing decisions, competitive analysis, M&A activities, and product positioning.
· Benchmark competition and monitor performance of ERI strategies to track effectiveness.
· Ensure the ERI product portfolio remains competitive by continuously gathering market intelligence regarding competition, products and pricing, and communicating this information back to manufacturing and sales.
· Develop applications for customer profiling, segmentation, geographic analysis, customer retention, and customer acquisition methodologies. Analyze the ERI product, brand, and marketing tactics portfolio to identify marketing opportunities and segmentation/targeting strategies to increase results.
· Develop and integrate best practices to support a marketing driven organization by developing methodologies to report on key aspects of the business while coordinating with cross functional areas to assure analytical consistency.
· Perform as a statistical and analytic consultant for large-scale initiatives, providing guidance for the design, analysis, and measurement phases of various marketing projects.
· Liaise at all levels with our overseas locations and Corporate Sales and Marketing management to develop a global database for account, product strategies, competition, market demand, and development plans.
· Work aggressively to ensure that the business achieves ambitious revenue and financial performance objectives. Recognize and impact areas of potential top line and margin growth.
· Liaise with key customers, outside consultants, Product Category Managers and R&D resources to analyze, identify, and prioritize new product development initiatives.
· Establish and maintain global information repositories including, but not limited to, segment size, trends, regional evolution, revenue from key accounts, competitor information, standards and directives, and technology offerings.
· Continuously review the product portfolio and recommend additions, deletions, or extensions to meet the needs of changing market requirements.
· Lead efforts to collect, synthesize, and publish customer and competitor information.
Education:
MBA or Bachelor’s degree in Business, MIS, Engineering or related field preferred. Relevant Industry-specific work experience may substitute for some educational requirements
Experience:
· Three-five years working in a marketing analysis or similar role such as sales, sales support, transaction execution or problem solving area. Ability to interact with customers in a professional, commercial setting.
· The ability to work in a matrix environment within a complex global organization and quickly find common ground and solve problems; is seen as a team player.Ability to quickly absorb new company or technical knowledge as well as business skills.Solves difficult problems with effective solutions; can see underlying or hidden problems and patterns.Ability to make decisions in time-sensitive situations, sometimes with incomplete information; has a bias for action.Excellent verbal and written communication skills.PC Skill – Microsoft Office suite of software products.
