Nuclear Safety Analysis Engineer III

It all starts here, with you.Dominion is one of the industry leading utilities for performing full-scope in-house safety analyses in support of its nuclear units. including reload core safety analyses, detailed core thermal/hydraulics calculations, reactor system transient analyses, containment structural integrity analyses, evaluations of as-found plant conditions, and analytical methods development for the support of these activities.Job Responsibilities:-Establish and communicate bounding conditions of safe operation (safety analyses) for the reactor core, reactor coolant system, balance of plant, containment systems, engineered safeguards, and safety-related auxiliary equipment of the Dominion nuclear units-Support maintaining plant configurations consistent with current safety analyses-Modify safety analyses in support of plant design changes-Evaluate unanticipated as-found plant conditions, provide input for operability determinations, and provide recommendations for restoration of equipment to the design conditions-Develop and maintain analytical methods for these activities-Participate in ongoing training and continuous improvement activities to maintain and enhance our role in supporting safe and efficient plant operationQualificationsThe ideal candidate will possess the following:-Minimum 3 10 years direct experience in nuclear safety analysis-Knowledge of fundamental nuclear, mechanical, and electrical theory and engineering principles-Knowledge of fundamental theory, design, systems, structures, components, and operation of pressurized water reactors-Knowledge and experience with nuclear application codes, especially those used to perform detailed core thermal/hydraulics analysis, reactor coolant system transient analysis, and containment systems analysis. Direct experience with codes such as RETRAN, RELAP, VIPRE, and GOTHIC is a plus-Knowledge of nuclear regulations and regulatory processes-Station experience and related plant systems knowledge is a plus-Ability to effectively operate a personal computer and workstation computer, including standard Microsoft applications and UNIX. Programming skills are desirable-Ability to define problems, collect information, evaluate data, draw valid conclusions, and develop solutions in a time-critical environment-A demonstrated professional orientation, and an ability to lead, communicate effectively in both written and oral forms, and work effectively either in teams or independently under own initiative-Strong communication, teamwork, analytical, and project management skills are essential for success in this position
-Bachelors Degree from an accredited school is required (Nuclear Engineering is preferred) or -Mechanical Engineering Degree acceptable-M.S. degree preferred in Nuclear or Mechanical Engineering-PE license is preferred

Certification and Other Qualifications:
PE license can be substituted for a 4-year engineering degree from an accredited institution.
