Job DescriptionRadiation Protection Instructor Location: Brunswick Nuclear Plant, Southport, NC Occasional travel required. Senior Technical Specialist, Technical Training Instructor Requirements: Four year degree in Health Physics, Physics or other related science/engineering plus 2 years direct experience in commercial nuclear utility operations; or four year non-related degree or A.A.S degree or Navy Nuclear Program plus six years of direct experience in commercial nuclear utility operations; or high school diploma or equivalent with 10 years of direct experience in commercial nuclear utility operations. Must possess sound computer skills including being familiar with MS Office applications. Must be able to demonstrate strong written and verbal communication skills in all settings. Must hold or obtain a Nuclear Training Instructor certification.Desired: Highly demonstrated practical application of Radiation Protection tasks and expert level of radiation instrumentation for application in field and laboratory. Experience with Computer Based Training and creative interactive learning applications.Job Description: The Radiological Controls Instructor is responsible for all aspects of the Radiological Controls Training Program. This includes ensuring that the program is administered in accordance with the Systematic Approach to Training (SAT) process. The Radiological Controls Instructor develops and maintains high quality lesson plans, student handouts, and Qualification Checkout Cards. This individual assists in maintenance of the Radiological Controls Task List, Cross Reference Matrix, and Exam Bank. The Instructor performs other training duties as assigned, including but not limited to: schedule development; unit assessment support; condition report evaluations; task and needs analysis; exam bank maintenance; Technician qualification oversight, training feedback response and practical hands-on-training. The Instructor provides instruction for initial and continuing training classes (Radiological Controls and other programs) as needed.In addition, position may be responsible for other training areas such as Confined Space, DOT HAZMAT, Lead, Asbestos, etc. as assigned by supervisor. Individual must interface effectively with customer, peer instructors, and external agencies such as INPO.Position will support the Emergency Response Organization by obtaining/maintaining qualification for ERO position(s) as assigned and support for outage organization as shared resource both onsite and other NGG facilities. QualificationsTypically works under general supervision and exercises judgment. Knows and effectively uses fundamental concepts, practices, and procedures. May work on projects or tasks that are fairly complex and varied. Bachelor's degree or equivalent and 1-4 years professional experience.
