Position Overview:Chevron Products Company is accepting online applications for the position of Operating Assistant (0707-50066428) located in El Segundo, CA through 07/15/2008.The Operating Assistant will be responsible for interfacing with personnel supporting the 24/7 operation as well the various support groups (Technical, Maintenance, Capital Projects, Finance, etc) in the refinery. This position is responsible for safe, reliable, and environmentally sound operation for a given set of process plants and equipment in an operating division in the refinery as well as identifying areas of optimization opportunities. This position is a change agent working with various personnel in the Division and the refinery.Qualifications:Position Details Key Job Responsibilities for this position may include but are not limited to:- Ensures safety of plant personnel and compliance of applicable environmental regulations and work processes- Ensures incident and injury-free operation. Initiates investigations in a timely manner and completes corrective action items.- Provides support and continuity to the 24/7 First Line Supervisors at the refinery- Interfaces with operations and maintenance personnel on maintenance work plan and equipment issues- Provides work direction to Process/Design Engineering and other service support groups. Initiates and coordinates the development of process and equipment design changes - Responsible for shut down planning and execution- Division owner for capital and expense budget preparation- Analyzes plant performance and initiates changes in operating guidelines or procedures, control instrumentation, or equipment- Initiates, coordinates, and reviews capital projects.- Optimizes unit processes to maximize plant and refinery profitabilityStudies and analyzes a variety of complex capital and special projects and collaborates with:- Operating, maintenance and technical groups as needed- Works with the Refinery Shift Leader to develop personnel in the 24/7 organization- Coaches First Line Supervisors, Head Operators and Operators- May be assigned as operating liaison for design and construction of new plants or alterations to existing plantsBasic Qualifications- 5-10 years of experience in a refinery or manufacturing setting, which includes plant turnarounds and implementation of capital projects- Working knowledge of refinery planning and economics- US Citizenship or Permanent Residency required.Must possess a demonstrated ability to:- Direct personnel and work well with others to achieve goals and objectives- Analyze problems, evaluate alternatives and take appropriate action- Communicate in a clear, concise, timely manner both orally and in writing- As a Management Team member, be a positive influence and be able to effectively work across Division boundariesPreferred Qualifications- B.S. Engineering or equivalent 4 year college degree, or 5-10 years of line operating experience- Process, Designs, or Capital Project experience. - Working knowledge in the Health, Environmental & Safety; Reliability; and Capital Projects areas- Change Management experience - Supervisory experience at a refineryExperience working with capital and operating expense budgets Basic Qualifications:SPECIAL SKILLS/REQUIREMENTS OR ADDITIONAL CONSIDERATIONS/INFORMATION:- Bachelor's degree preferred - 5-10 years of line operating experience- Relocation benefits will be considered.- This is a safety sensitive PositionSelection Criteria:Leadership:Demonstrated ability to analyze business drivers, develop strategic goals, plans and metrics to produce long term value.
