Operation Center Technician

 POSITION PURPOSE:  Support the Austin Operations Center which provides 24/7 control/communications/remote monitoring of wind farm operations, including analysis and reporting to meet ISO, QSE and TDSP real time response requirements.  KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:  THIS DESCRIPTION REPRESENTS THE PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES OF THE POSITION.  THE INCUMBENT MAY BE ASKED TO FULFILL OTHER RESPONSIBILITIES.1. Monitor wind farm operating parameters and provide timely notification, when necessary, to Supervisor of significant changes such as turbine trips and curtailment.2. Receive instructions on wind farms output from Independent System Operators (ERCOT/NYISO, etc) and Qualified Scheduling Entities (QSE) on market conditions and adjust generation output consistent with their instructions. 3. Log and record selected wind farm operating parameters, conditions and activities, as required.4. Prepare various output reports, trend analysis and generation documents, as required.5. Assist in the preparation of various regulatory and contractual reports of wind farm operation and performance.6. Train, guide and provide direction to less experienced Operations Center Technicians.7. Perform other duties as required and assigned, including filling in for the Operations Center Supervisor during his/her absence. MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:  EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE:One to four years of work experience preferably in a technical related position. One to two years wind operations experience or control room operations in electric utility or similar environment. Must be skilled with computers and must have a good working knowledge of Microsoft Excel and Word. Must be willing to work on a 12 hour shift. Ability to read and understand electrical wiring diagrams and drawings is highly desirable. COMPETENCIES:Initiative – Able to work with minimum supervision and make decisions for all issues related to his/her discipline(s) with limited and/or available information.  Technical/Functional Knowledge – Able to discern problems, understand and communicate root causes and work diligently to find acceptable solutions and resolve issues.  Flexibility – Adjust readily to changes in direction and work priorities while working efficiently to complete assigned tasks and achieve goals.  Interpersonal Skills - Good communication skills.
