Position Overview:Chevron Pipe Line Company is accepting online applications for the position of Pipeline Controller located in Houston (Bellaire), Texas through May 23, 2008.These positions are with Chevron Pipe Line Company (CPL), which is headquartered in Bellaire, Texas, just outside of Houston. CPL deals in the transport of crude oil, refined petroleum products, liquefied petroleum gas, natural gas and chemicals within the United States. Controllers are associated with Chevron Pipe Line’s Control Center in Bellaire, Texas. A minimum of 3 years experience as a pipeline controller or similar control position is preferred but not required, or 5 years directly related pipeline field experience. (All candidates: Please be sure to include a copy of your resume with your application.)These positions involve operation of pipelines handling crude oil, natural gas, natural gas liquids, refined products, intermediate feed stocks, and CO2 throughout North America.In general, Chevron Pipe Line relies on Pipeline Controllers to manage remote operation of pipeline systems to meet our daily commodity transportation commitments and to protect its assets through diligent surveillance of remotely monitored facilities. The Controller must maintain surveillance of multiple pipeline systems utilizing site specific real-time data in order to maintain the integrity of the pipeline system(s). The Controller is expected to take a proactive approach to eliminate operational problems through constant communication with third party and field support personnel. The Controller must demonstrate the ability to recognize, analyze and respond to abnormal conditions in a timely manner to minimize potential negative impact to people and the environment.Qualifications:Key Job Responsibilities for this position may include but are not limited to:– Assure the accurate, efficient and on time movement of commodities to and from designated locations as scheduled. – Remotely control and operate field equipment to initiate, terminate and re-direct commodity movements as directed.– Commodity quality– Volumetric balancing– ETA’s to pipe intersections and delivery/receipt locations.– Maintain contact with Field and Control Center personnel so as to be able to leverage support and assistance as needed.– Maintain and review a periodic record of Console data on the measurement and operations activities of the pipeline system(s). – Non-Console related data that is communicated is also recorded and stored.– Maintain a daily shift record of noteworthy events (Console Log) as it relates to Control Center and field pipeline activities. – Recognize and respond to emergency or abnormal conditions on the pipeline systems through immediate control capabilities if available and/or through notification of company personnel in an effort to mitigate the potential negative impact of the event.– Prepare and enter equipment malfunction in SAP-PM as well as provide immediate notification to support personnel as appropriate.– Participate in, and initiate when appropriate, Incident Investigations.– Record Pipeline System slow downs and downtime.– Fulfill all required training.– Willing to work a rotating 12 hour shift (night and day rotation) which includes weekends and holidays.– Minimum 2year commitment to the Controller position.Basic Qualifications:- Bachelor’s degree preferred in Business, Science, Math, or Engineering- Relocation benefits will be considered.- Expatriate Assignment will not be considered.- This is a safety sensitive Position.- Hazwoper Level III & V certification will be required.
