Chevron Pipe Line Company is accepting online applications for the position of Pipeline Mechanic located in Taft, California through May 11, 2008.Overview:Pipeline Mechanics are proficient in mechanical maintenance and repair work processes required for the safe, accurate and efficient operation of pipeline systems. With direction from the Maintenance Coordinator, prioritize and coordinate work with other team members or contractors in performing daily maintenance work processes. They act on their own initiative to identify and correct work place hazards, unsafe practices, security violations or environmental concerns. Pipeline Mechanics may act as a field team liaison with Subject Matter Experts and perform link pin or link pin type responsibilities.Pipeline Mechanics are process oriented with a focus on results. They apply technical and business principles and use quality tools and methods to make independent decisions in performing daily work. Pipeline Mechanics maintain a minimum of Hazwoper Level III and Level V certification. Knowledge of emergency response procedures have been demonstrated through hypothetical drills or actual experience.Qualifications:Key Job Responsibilities for this position may include but are not limited to:? Perform routine troubleshooting and preventative maintenance on assigned pipeline system equipment and facilities including the collection and interpretation of IMI data. ? Perform, or direct the performance of a variety of skilled mechanical work including installing, disassembling, assembling, inspecting, repairing, altering, and occasionally fabricating parts for pipeline system equipment and facilities. ? Must comply with Company, industry, agency and Government codes, practices, regulations and standards and obtain all necessary licenses and certificates pertaining to work performed. ? Use drawings, blueprints, manuals and other technical references and perform arithmetic computations in the performance of daily work. ? Use the basic technical principles to determine the cause of pipeline system equipment problems and make the required repairs or arrange for additional diagnostic and/or repair support. ? Develop and perform routine maintenance checks. ? In consultation with the HES SME, dispose of, or direct the disposal of, waste generated as a part of daily worked performed in a safe manner and in compliance with all hazardous waste transportation and disposal regulations and requirements. ? With direction from the HES SME, prepare manifests for the shipment of hazardous wastes and prepare soil or other samples for shipment. ? Document in SAP-PM, work performed to ensure reliability and compliance with state and federal regulations.? Pipeline Mechanics may also participate in quality teams at the Field Team or Regional level to improve and standardize work processes. ? May lead sub-teams at the Field Team level. ? Develop and use metrics to analyze, improve and implement work process change. ? Assist in the training and coaching of other team members in routine maintenance skills associated with assigned pipeline system(s). ? Provide input to, and implement the Business Plan at the Field Team level. ? Monitor and review financial performance metrics and recommend ways to improve the team’s financial performance. ? Track and trend assigned cost centers and cost elements. ? May act as Field Team liaison with Subject Matter Experts and perform link pin or link pin type responsibilities. ? Respond to inquiries regarding leaks, line locations and encroachments and take appropriate action to rectify. ? May coordinate the inspection, performance and documentation of facilities compliance checks, and track compliance checklists. ? Perform compliance inspections and participate in agency inspections.Required (Basic) Qualifications:? Valid Driver's License Required- No DWI/DUI 3 years. No more than 1 moving violation in past 2 years. DMV records will be checked.? High school diploma or equivalent required.Preferred Qualifications:? Hazwoper Level III & V certification. If not currently certified, must become certified within 1 year of hire, and certifications must be maintained. ? Prior to performing any DOT covered tasks, must meet DOT requirements for operator qualification.Relocation Options:? Relocation will not be considered.International Considerations:?
