Power Plant Maintenance Manager
SUMMARY
Consolidated Asset Management Services, LLC (CAMS) is a privately held company headquartered in Houston, Texas, providing Asset Management and Operations and Maintenance services to owners of energy infrastructure assets (e.g. power generation, midstream oil and gas and oil field services, etc.). In addition to Asset Management and O&M, CAMS provides consulting, due diligence and transition services associated with asset acquisitions and divestitures including Finance and Accounting, Commercial, Technical, Information Technology and Human Resources.
Mackinaw Power Operations is a subsidiary of CAMS and is actively recruiting a Maintenance Manager. The power plant Maintenance Manager will be responsible for directing and supervising all maintenance activities necessary to sustain and improve four (4) power plant facilities, located in Georgia, for operation at a maximum design capacity in a safe, cost effective manner through the anticipated life of each Power Plant facility.
The major challenges include retaining and enhancing the skills of the qualified maintenance staff, and the development and direction of a maintenance organization fully capable of handling all maintenance requirements including emergency outages. The Maintenance Manager does the planning for major and yearly outages and is in charge of the execution of all plant outages. These challenges increase as the plant ages and his/her efforts increase in order to minimize outage times. The Maintenance Manager is on 24 hour call to respond to emergencies. These responsibilities require the Maintenance Manager to work closely with Operations Supervisors, the Plant Engineer, and Accounting Manager, to identify maintenance requirements while conforming to budgetary constraints.
The Maintenance Manager has significant administrative responsibilities including planning annual outages, preparation and regulation of the annual maintenance budget, directing the maintenance of computerized maintenance system records, including stocking of spare parts and materials, developing and implementing employee training programs, administering the performance review and salary programs, and developing and implementing the preventive and predictive maintenance programs. The Maintenance Manager is responsible for any subcontracted maintenance, including developing scopes of work, qualifying subcontractors, proposal evaluation, award of contracts, and onsite monitoring and acceptance of subcontractor’s work. The Maintenance Manager is authorized to make expenditure decisions within his/her approved department budget for tools, supplies and equipment, as well as overtime assignments. All work performed by the maintenance organization must be in accordance with plant policies, procedures, and safety rules, as well as all plant enforced environmental rules, regulations, and permits.
DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
· Perform all duties in accordance with requirements detailed in the Facility’s Safety Program.
· Communicate and cooperate with employees, owner’s representatives, vendors and all others interacting with the facility in a courteous and efficient manner at all times so as to support the philosophy, objectives, policies and procedures of Mackinaw Power Operations.
· Supervise all maintenance personnel, Maintenance Technicians, I & E Technicians, contractors and subcontractors performing maintenance at the Facility.
· Supervise all maintenance activity, including outage planning and coordination, material requisitioning, purchasing, stocking, and subcontractor selection.
· Support the operation of the project to maximize plant output and efficiency.
· Develop and manage a Maintenance Plans for the benefit of each power plant.
· Develop a spare parts list and establish inventory levels.
· Develop and manage equipment lubrication and sampling schedule to minimize equipment failure.
· Maintain a “forced outage” plan to minimize plant downtime.
· Maintain Plant Transmission Equipment per applicable contracts and industry standards.
· Develop and execute the maintenance department budget, and provide input for budget status reports to the plant management.
· Promote and support plant safety and housekeeping programs.
· Develop and implement lifting and rigging safety program.
· Develop and implement a training program to enhance employee performance, capability, and promotability.
· Coordinate all aspects of the Maintenance Management System as a management and operational tool (equipment histories, preventative maintenance, predictive maintenance, inventory and stock functions, etc.).
· Ensure an adequate level of materials, equipment, tools, and safety equipment are available to maintain the Facility.
· Coordinate all work to assure quality repairs are made using an acceptable outlay of time, material, tooling, and money.
· Enforce compliance with all company policies and procedures.
· Promote teamwork in all endeavors. Develop empowered teams of employees.
QUALIFICIATIONS
Education:
· Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering or an associated field or the equivalent in related course work and experience is preferred.
· Requires at least 50% travel between Rincon, Sandersville, Monroe and Walton, Georgia.
Experience:
· 5 + years of experience required
· A thorough understanding of power generation technology and maintenance requirements.
· Specific experience with Siemens V84.3, Westinghouse 501F gas turbines, GE 7FA combustion turbine, Nooter HRSG’s, Toshiba steam turbine and GE Mark V controls is a plus.
· Experience with WDPF and or TXP control systems.
· Demonstrated supervisory skills.
· Must be familiar with a computerized Maintenance Management System.
· Demonstrated written and verbal communication skills.
· Operability, operational readiness, operational surveillance, diagnostics, troubleshooting and production optimization preferred.
· Expert knowledge of maintenance management techniques.
· Experience in pre-commissioning, commissioning, and start-up of production facilities preferred.
· Strong knowledge and understanding of operational safety case preferred.
Relocation will be considered for this position.
Working Environment:
· Normal power plant environment and/or out of doors work environment. (Including working at heights, high/low ambient temperatures)
