It all starts here, with you.The ideal candidate is fully competent in all conventional aspects of the subject matter. Provides engineering support to Operational Maintenance in designated company area, or specific engineering discipline. Performs and/or reviews engineering calculations, analysis, research and design. Provides cost analysis as needed and develops recommendation based on calculations (e.g. cost for equipment upgrade) for management review. Under direction of supervisor or work leader, exercises independence in evaluating, selecting and applying standard or well defined engineering techniques, procedures and criteria. Uses independent judgment in prioritizing and making moderately complex adaptations and modifications. Assignments have clear and specified objectives and require investigation of a limited number of variables. Performs assignments designed to develop work knowledge, skills and abilities requiring application of policies, procedures, techniques and other criteria in carrying out all aspects of the job performs routine work assignments but over time will demonstrate the ability to perform more difficult work assignments. Works under established policies and procedures to meet set schedules and system or program requirements continues to develop the knowledge, skills and abilities to reach a higher level of proficiency and work complexity. Proficiently performs assignments having the knowledge, skills and abilities and experience needed to carry out all aspects of the job exercises independent judgment and decision-making in planning, organizing and conducting work assignments may receive instructions and guidance on unusual or complex problems and knows when to get others involved effectively utilizes the proper resources to develop solutions and devise new approaches encountered in work assignments identifies and eliminates unnecessary work and non-value added activities.Clover responsibilities:We require a highly-motivated self starter to fill our Balance of Plant Engineer position. A 4-year accredited Mechanical Engineering degree is preferred. Related power plant experience is preferred. Applicant should possess strong mechanical troubleshooting skills and knowledge of engineering principles, standards, applicable industry codes and government regulations. Knowledge of piping, pumps, metals, instrumentation and controls, water treatment, cooling towers, material handling systems, and project management experience is a plus.Applicant must enjoy working in an industrial environment and be able to interact well with all plant personnel. Excellent oral and written communication skills (including technical writing) a must. Strong computer skills, as well as organization and leadership skills are required. The level of this position will be filled depending on the experience of the successful candidate.The selected candidate must successfully complete a pre-employment drug screen and background investigation including DMV, criminal history, verification of prior employment, and education records.Dominion employees work hard, but everyone has a life beyond the job.
