Principal Engineer - Environmental

PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Provide environmental support to all Tampa Electric Company’s (TEC’s) generating facilities, primarily to Big Bend Power Station, on air permitting and compliance activities.
Interpret Federal, State and Local environmental laws and regulations.
Provide technical leadership, strategic input and guidance to the EHS Department and other impacted areas of the company regarding air issues.
Participate as a member of inter-department project teams to evaluate the environmental impacts to TEC.
Act as the interface between environmental regulatory agencies and the company on issues of air permitting and compliance issues. Lead air inspections as necessary.
Participate in Clean Air Act (CAA) related activities including coordinating the Title V permitting and strategic input into compliance planning for CAA implementation.
Represent the department and/or company on environmental committees and trade associations. This includes but not limited to the FCG Air Subcommittee and various industry groups.
Provide input on legislative and rulemaking efforts involving current or proposed air issues such as Global Climate Change, Regional Haze, CAIR and CAMR.
Track air compliance/permitting issues affecting TEC facilities (PSD Applicability, New Source Review, NAAQS, Visibility/Regional haze, CAIR, CAMR, etc), review the environmental impacts to TEC, and advise team members of impacts.
SKILLS, EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:
Level and salary could increase based on the experience and skills of the incumbent.
Must successfully complete a physical worker medical exam.
Minimum of 5 years related experience.
Applied knowledge of the Clean Air Act related to power generation.
Strong computer skills (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Access).
Strong writing and presentation skills.
Knowledge of Federal, State and local environmental regulations.
SKILLS, EXPERIENCE PREFERRED:
Professional Engineers license preferred.
EDUCATION:
Bachelors degree in an engineering discipline (Mechanical, Chemical or Civil/Environmental Preferred).
