Principal Welding Engineer

We are currently seeking a Principal Welding Engineer in our Nuclear Power Plants Business Unit. Our Nuclear Power Plants Business Unit, based out of our corporate headquarters in Monroeville, PA, specializes in product development, systems engineering, component design, equipment manufacturing, and project management for new nuclear power plants worldwide. It is within this Business Unit that developed the AP1000 design, the safest and most economical nuclear power plant available in the worldwide commercial market place.In this position, a Principal Welding Engineer can expect to perform the following duties:- Develop welding specifications for nuclear power plant structures- Review weld call-outs on structural design drawings- Develop preferred weld details- Specify weld NDT requirements- Review fabricator weld processes-weld filler selection, equipment, process setpoints, qualification plans and results- Disposition fabricator/field deviation requests, field change requests- Review fabricator NDT plansA successful candidate would be familiar with and/or have experience with the following:- Welding expert with significant experience in nuclear facility structural and piping steel welding and NDT inspections- Engineering degree (Welding Engineering preferred)- Eight or more years experience in welded joints of industrial structures and piping- Expert familiarity with applicable design codes (AWS, AISC, ASME)- Experienced with typical structural steels- Experienced with nuclear plant stainless steels, specifically including duplex stainless steel (e.g., 2101) Westinghouse technology is the basis for nearly half of the world's nuclear power plants.
