Chevron Products Company is accepting online applications for the position of Process Control Engineer located in El Segundo, California through June 1, 2008.Overview:Provide advanced control, blending and general DCS support. This includes maintaining existing advanced control (DMCplus, BPC) applications. Work scope also includes Honeywell TDC3000 or Yokogawa system and hardware support, SIS configuration/software support, control loop tuning, operator training, and general control project work. Individual would report to the Lead Process Control Engineer or Control Systems Lead within the refinery.Pre-employment physical, drug screen and background check will be required. Qualifications:Key Responsibilities:• Implement and maintain advanced control (AspenTech DMCplus) strategies. Tune control loops. Create and maintain all control documentation. Support Honeywell BPC applications at Blending & Shipping.• Configure, troubleshoot, and maintain DCS and SIS software, logic, and graphics. • Support DCS alarm rationalization efforts by conducting alarm objectives analyses and implementing advanced alarming techniques.• Implement and maintain inferential calculations.• Identify and resolve control problems. Participate in projects requiring instrumentation upgrades or replacement.• Work closely with operators to train them on the basic and advanced process control system.Qualifications:• Bachelor's degree in Chemical Engineering preferred.• 5 years direct experience in process control support.• Project management training and experience is a plus.Selection Criteria:Excellent communication skills: Able to write clearly and concisely. Initiative: Able to identify potential opportunities and work them to completion, set priorities, and execute work with little direct supervision.Experience: Multivarible Control (like DMC) or Process Engineering experience in a Petroleum Refining or Petrochemical facilility.Technical Skills: Refinery/petrochemical process knowledge, chemistry, thermodynamics, fluid dynamics, and kinetics.Formalized training/experience with process control systems including Honeywell TDC-3000 and multivariable control/optimization technologies like DMC.
