Process Engineer - Greenville Plant #2

Position Description:

The Process Engineer is responsible for partnering with a progressive manufacturing team with an emphasis on lean manufacturing with the world’s leader in thin film solar technologies.

 

Duties will include:

· Support of daily production needs.

· Provide technical support on thin film coating matters to enhance the efficiency of Product Manufacturing department

· Lead or provide technical support to continuous improvement projects on yield improvement, scrap reduction, and corrective action plans.

· Troubleshoot product/process problems and develop root cause and corrective actions.

· Continuously review manufacturing process and identify process improvement activities.

· Debug fixtures and equipment

· Employ scanning electron microscope methods, Aerosol Monitor and Aerosol Particles Sizer devices to analyze and capture particle matter

· Analyze process data from device measurements

· Support the analysis and reporting of process emissions

· Conduct investigations and audits to ferret out root cause of product defects and failures

· Participate in projects dealing with thin film devices and vacuum technology

· Conduct design of experiments to optimize the deposition processes and to improve the resulting film properties

· Generate concepts, working drawings, and schematics

· Initiate and maintain contact with outside agencies, vendors, and companies for project needs

· Conduct supplier quality evaluations

· Prepare process data for system fault analysis and determine process variable cost

· Assist in design, implementation and maintenance of quality systems which are compliant to ISO 9001:2000 and customer requirements;

· Monitor inspection activities and product acceptance criteria and revise as necessary.

· Develop and analyze statistical data and product specifications to monitor product quality and product throughout and yield.

· Develop and document Production control plans.

· Working with manufacturing to optimize processes and review process data to meet quality levels, productivity objectives and performance specifications.

· Work closely with Sourcing, Manufacturing and Product Development to investigate product/process issues to maximize production yields and minimize costs.

· Willingness to contribute to a team effort for the advancement of photovoltaic technology

 

Required Qualifications:

· Bachelors or Masters degree in Engineering, Material Science or related field

· 1+ year experience in QA or project engineering in manufacturing environment.

· Skills in designing mechanical fixtures and equipment for automation

· Good communication skills, both verbal and written

· Ability to monitor quality; to establish, implement, optimize operating parameters.

· Knowledge of quality concepts, ISO9001 implementation experience.

· Good computer skills, MS Office, MS Project, Statistical applications.

 

Preferred Qualifications:

· Hands-on experience with CAD.

· Demonstrated ability to lead and implement sustained quality improvements.

· Demonstrated ability to prioritize and allocate time in accomplishing multiple tasks.

· Proven ability to work in cross-functional teams, build consensus, and foster positive relationships.

· Experience with Six Sigma tools, SPC, FMEA, DOE, Quality auditing, Lean.
