Procurement Specialist / NEW PLANT

Holcim (US) Inc. has an immediate opening for an experienced Procurement Specialist at its cutting edge greenfield plant being constructed in the close knit community of Bloomsdale, MO.  This is a unique opportunity to participate in all phases of a new state-of-the-art greenfield quarry, cement plant, and distribution terminal and impact the performance of the worlds largest single line kiln cement plant.

 

We are looking for a dynamic, customer focused, self-starter ready to take on new challenges within our procurement organization. As a key member of the Ste. Genevieve Plant, you will have an influential impact on plant operations through procuring the right materials and services at the lowest total cost of ownership and have them available when needed.

 

Your specific responsibilities will include:

 

· Function as a safety leader by demonstrating a personal commitment to working safely and ensuring that the plant continues to eliminate work related risks by increased use of hazard recognition techniques; function as a strong advocate and leader in promoting a safe working environment for all employees at the plant; conduct effective monthly safety meetings

· Strategic sourcing

· Development and monitoring of suppliers and services

· Work closely with maintenance, production, accounting and suppliers to achieve best total cost and value for the plant

· Maintain and refine the buying procedure to assure that the plant is receiving the highest value

· Ensure the highest compliance to procurement strategies and procedures

· Direct involvement in negotiating favorable prices and terms with suppliers for local agreements

· Be the main point of contact for data collection for information requested by the regional procurement manager

· Develop new/alternative sources of local supply

· Review supplier performance for specific commodities

· Participate in local commodity focus teams

· Work closely with warehouse supervisor

· Drive improvement on corporate and plant measurements (KPI's) including inventory, payment terms, savings, organizational efficiency, quality, delivery, customer service, and supplier selection decisions

· Work with accounts payable, end users and vendors to resolve purchase order and invoice discrepancies

· Other duties as assigned by manager

 

Bring Your Skills to the Table:

 

The ideal candidate would be a solid team player, have strong negotiation skills, possess strong verbal and written communication capabilities, and have the ability to work under minimum supervision with solid decision making skills. In addition the ideal candidate would possess:

 

· Bachelor's degree desired; a technical discipline preferred 

· Certified Purchasing Manager (CPM) certification preferred

· Prior procurement experience desired; knowledge of industrial processes and parts desired

· 5 Years sourcing experience preferred

· Knowledge of plant maintenance and storeroom processes and procedures a plus

· SAP or equivalent ERM experience preferred

· Strong contract negotiation skills
