Program Manager - Global Projects
Cooper Power Systems, a division of Cooper Industries, has an immediate opening for a Program Manager at our Waukesha, WI facility. Cooper Power Systems is a diversified worldwide supplier of electrical distribution equipment. Position Title: Program Manager – Global Projects Position Responsibilities: Leadership of a cross functional team (5-20 people globally) to develop and release to the market new Distribution Electrical products from product inception through design, prototypes, field pilots, manufacturing start up, and release to the market. Products range from Transformers, Regulators, Capacitors, Switchgear, Components, and Control Systems. Develops program plans and operating mechanisms to successfully execute the plan and deliver per business objectives Establishes clear product quality targets and processes to meet the quality goals Drives development of a new product with clear goals for product reliability, manufacturability, and serviceability – customer delight Responsible for program staffing, budget, and conflict resolution Identifies risks and mitigation plans, and carries out changes to plan if necessary to ensure that targets are achieved Identifies next generation opportunities within the market and relevant technology and proposes plans to exploit them Continuously seeks to improve profitability by being aware of costs, but without detracting from perceived product quality Effectively collaborates with marketing, manufacturing, and sourcing functions on product requirements, design features, and service Directs team members in program execution including functional and interpersonal skills’ coaching as required Effectively negotiates with engineering internal and external departments for resource allocation, changes in schedule, etc. Constantly monitors and improves performance of team to ensure it meets company objectives Improves the New Product Development process and assists with training and mentoring of Project Leaders Position Qualifications: BS – Electrical or Mechanical Engineering Previous experience as a Program Manager (2-10 years) Experience in power systems, electrical products and / or industrial automation & controls a plus BB certification or training Knowledge of design for manufacturability, reliability, and serviceability Leadership of a cross functional team Demonstrated excellence in communication and interpersonal skills Experience operating successfully in matrix organization MBA or Masters in Engineering Management a plus Project Management certification a plus Required Leadership Values & Competencies: Acts in an ethical and truthful manner, leading by example and earning the respect and trust of co-workers, customers, and other stakeholders Sets aggressive targets, accepts consequences of actions, and holds others accountable Meets the expectations and requirements of all customers by making customer needs a primary focus Thinks globally about the entire business and committed to supporting the needs and goals of an integrated global organization Seeks and promotes diverse perspectives which improve decision-making and increase innovation Operates with a “one company” mindset and interacts effectively with associates above, below and across the organization to achieve results Delivers commitments, producing work of the highest quality in a timely and effective manner Plans and executes work that is accurate, complete and reliable Deals respectively and fairly but decisively with difficult circumstances Understands priorities and balances short-term and long-term requirements Communicates openly and honestly in a clear and concise manner on an ongoing basis Modifies plans to meet changed circumstances by being flexible and adaptive Understands emerging trends, global shifts, consolidations, and new technology, eager to expand expertise on a continuing basis, and looks for external best practices to leapfrog the competition Builds consensus and shares credit, working cooperatively and effectively with customers, suppliers and co-workers at all levels to achieve mutual objectives Responds to real-world issues impacting the business as they arise and acts as a catalyst and leader of strategic and cultural change Deciphers data and complex issues into clear, straightforward business strategies, using logic, experience, and judgment Energizes and motivates all levels of the team or project members Cooper Power Systems offers an excellent compensation and benefits package, which includes a matching 401(k) plan, tuition reimbursement, and many other benefits.
