Project Coordinator/Accounting Assistant

Modis, a leader in the Engineering and IT staffing industry, is seeking a Project Controls Specialist for an entry level position in Terrell, NC.This Project Controls Specialist will support the Major Projects Group on various implementation efforts; primarily Unit 3 SCR and Buck Combustion Turbine Combined Cycle. Position Description: This position reports to a Sr. Project Controls Specialist or higher. Under direct/general supervision, this position performs project cost accounting and cost analysis functions for a C&PM project controls team in the areas of accounting set-up, budgeting, forecasting, cost reporting, and corrections, and project closeout functions.  Activities include, but are not limited to, the following:o Assisting in the consolidation of project reports. o Compile basic financial reports on a monthly and quarterly basis. o Assisting in the reconciliation of forecasted vs. actual/incurred costs. o Assisting the controls lead in the set-up of new cost accounts and Purchase Requisitions. o Documenting/developing project control work processes.o Develop a fundamental understanding of project cost accounting best practices. o Develop a fundamental understanding of project scheduling and utilization of Primavera P6.o Other duties as assigned. Minimum Requirements Two years experience in business administration, accounting or invoice reconciliation with a demonstrated competency in Microsoft Excel, Word and Access. Desired Requirements: Evaluation factors for this position include, but are not limited to: o Fundamental understanding of project cost accounting duties, especially budgeting, forecasting, cost reporting, and project closeout o Relationship management skills. o Communication effectiveness. o Proven problem solving (especially root cause) skills. o Technical competence. o  Ability to learn project controls applications.
