For more information on SunPower please visit the SunPower website at www.sunpowercorp.com.  Summary The Project Designer provides site evaluation, system design, and sub-consultant management services for SunPower's large-scale commercial projects as a part of the Design Engineering Group. The Design Engineering Group designs rooftop and ground mounted solar arrays, generating full sets of construction documents to support our in-house construction project management team. Candidates must demonstrate strong design, communication, and creative problem solving skills, and have excellent AutoCAD skills. Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.· Preparation of detailed mechanical, electrical, civil and/or structural designs for rooftop systems and free standing ground-mounted solar arrays · Site layout, planning and design · Coordination with Sales Leads, Project Managers, and other project participants · Managing engineering consultants for calculations, drawing packages, professional stamps · Designing components to address site-specific requirements · Creating and maintaining AutoCAD drawing packages · Creating Bills of Materials for projects · Assisting Salespeople and construction Project Managers with design related questions, responding to RFIs from the field · Site visits, including occasional domestic and international travelEducation and Experience · Bachelors degree in Civil, Mechanical, Electrical, or Structural Engineering or Masters degree in Architecture · Minimum 3-5 years experience in Engineering or Design, post-degree · EIT or PE is a plus, ongoing professional development is encouraged  Qualifications · Candidates must be highly organized and capable of working on multiple projects · Knowledge of electrical design, materials and methods of installation, especially in power generation, is a plus · Strong design and engineering skills · Proficiency with AutoCAD and generating detailed construction drawings · Good communication skills  SunPower offers an attractive compensation package that consists of a competitive salary and equity.
