Position Overview:Chevron Global Downstream is accepting online applications for the position of Quantitative Analyst located in Houston, TX through June 1, 2008.Global Supply and Trading is building its commercial analytical capability, and is seeking talented and motivated candidates to establish its new Market Research and Analytics department (MRA). Successful candidates will join the new team and create a high level of analytical capability to support upstream, downstream, and trading commercial activities. The Quantitative Analyst position contributes to this capability by developing advanced analytical tools and methods, such as statistical, stochastic, and optimization models. This position develops these tools for business unit use, and also applies the tools to business opportunities to supplement business unit analytical capabilities.Qualifications:Key Job Responsibilities for this position may include but are not limited to:1. Researches, develops and maintains standardized set of advance analytical tools (Engines) and applicable processes2. Interfaces with regional analysts to gather analytical requirements and incorporate in Engines3. Keeps abreast of latest developments in the analytical fields such as forecasting, valuation, simulation, optimization etc4. Consults and trains rest of MRA organization and supply and trading population on the advanced tools and methods5. Develops models and quantitative methodologies to effectively measure and analyze market risks. Assesses market risks in a trading environment back testing, financial modeling and other needed support to risk managers, traders, and supply6. Develops econometric price forecast models for trading decisions and system asset/ network optimization7. Generates parameters (volatilities, correlations, drift, risk premium between spot and forward prices, mean reversion) for the dynamic price cube. Develops model for generating Dynamic price cube.8. Develops advanced dynamic options models for storage, transport, blending operations and investment decisions9. Builds framework to generate new trading plays and assists commercial analysts in developing deal recommendations to traders10. Mentors other team members on advanced analytical methodologies11. Assists MRA Manager with development of Analytics vision and directionBasic Qualifications:- Bachelor's degree required - Masters degree required in quantitative discipline with commensurate experience- PhD preferred in Quantitative Finance, Math, Economics, Engineering, or other Quantitative disciplines- Relocation may be considered within Chevron parameters.- Expatriate Assignment will be considered.- This is a safety sensitive Position.Selection Criteria:1. Capable of developing and applying quantitative analysis for energy trading, focusing on market dynamics and risk management, option valuation, risk metrics and forward curve modeling.2. Strong econometric and statistical skills. 3. Understanding of risk models and measurement, and derivative pricing. 4. Intellectually curious, resourceful, focused, with a proven ability to gather, synthesize, analyze and disseminate useful information.5. Proficiency with programming languages such as C++, C#, SAS, Matlab, SQL, @Risk, FinCad and Excel/VB, etc.6. Ability to pinpoint and deliver useful analysis that adds to the profitability of the business; strong customer focus. 7. Effective written and oral communication skills; Ability to communicate complex analytical concepts in a simple and understandable manner.8.
