RCA Engineer I -Senior

Job Description:Root Cause Analysis (RCA) process is a tool to identify what occurred, how it occurred, why it happened, and how to avoid it in the future. The RCA Engineer will be working with a team that will own the root cause and corrective action process for asset performance and reliability issues. The successful candidate for this position will interface with field personnel, customers, suppliers, design engineers, service engineers, and manufacturing to drive fact-based issue resolution.Position Summary: Lead or coordinate the various functions and work activities of employees assigned to support Root Cause Analysis methods to identify failure modes and recommend process changes as required to ensure optimal overall safe, reliable performance of the transmission system. Work in a team environment to identify problems and recommend practical solutions for implementation.Principal Accountabilities: 1. Investigate major equipment failures, major system disturbances and selected mis-operations impacting transmission service quality or reliability.2. Focus on clear, concise problem statements and documentation of failure modes and effects. 3. Engage the problem as a hands-on resource to personally validate the parts and processes through a deep dive / immersion. 4. Manage the alignment of key stakeholders to include as required, product designers, suppliers, supplier quality engineers, transmission region operations, other Asset Engineering resources, etc.5. Become expert in and facilitate the use of problem solving tools like Tap Root, Sigma XL, and REASONS.6. Follow through to a formal closeout to include lessons learned documentation and long term corrective action implementation as required.7. Develop and manage the communication plan to keep key stakeholders informed of status and progress. These will typically include managerial and technical presentations. 8. Implement and assist with process improvement projects and/or related programs. 9. Work with corporate and regional engineering groups as needed.10. Perform other duties as assigned.Job Experience:Bachelor's degree in engineering in a program accredited by the Engineering Accreditation Commission of the Accreditation Board for Engineering and Technology (ABET). [Acceptable alternatives are (1) a Bachelor's degree in engineering (non-ABET), plus a Professional Engineers (PE) license in any state of the U.S. or (2) a Bachelor's degree in engineering (non-ABET) independently evaluated and found to be equivalent to an engineering degree awarded by a regionally accredited college or university in the U.S.] Typically should be achieved with 4 - 7 years of engineering experience as an Engineer II or equivalent.

A minimum of seven years of electric utility or related power experience financial analysis or asset management.

Candidates must have excellent verbal and written communication skills, familiarity with Microsoft Office products, and strong organizational skills.
