Chevron Energy Technology Company is accepting online applications for the position of Reservoir Engineer- Heavy Oil - Thermal Simulation Specialist, located in Bakersfield, CA.Overview:The Heavy Oil Strategic Business Units (SBUs) have identified a need for experienced Heavy Oil Specialists. This position is a two-year developmental assignment for experienced (4+ years or post-Horizons) Heavy Oil technical employees who desire to become specialists in their field of interest. Upon completion of the program, it is expected that the candidate will be available to be placed, or post, to heavy oil Business Units worldwide, based on the needs for their skill set and area of specialty. The program consists of the candidate receiving training and structured mentoring from recognized subject matter experts, transitioning to the candidate performing independent technical work supporting heavy oil projects. Skill areas required to enter the program include special knowledge of heavy oil and thermal reservoir, as well as production engineering with some drilling, completions or operations experience. The specialist program will be managed by the Heavy Oil Organizational Competency Team Leader in Energy Technology Company (ETC) Heavy Oil and Unconventional Resources (HOUR), Bakersfield. Depending upon the nature of the specialist developmental assignment, and mentor, the candidate may report to either a SBU, or ETC HOUR. Qualifications:Key Job Responsibilities for this position may include but are not limited to:• Assist Opcos with heavy oil production performance and steam needs.• Focus on performance forecasting and field development strategies.• Assist new asset development and/or operational issues, heavy oil technology development and best practices deployment.Required (Basic) Qualifications:• A Bachelor's Degree required in Petroleum, Chemical, Mechanical or Electrical Engineering field.• A minimum of 4 years experience.• A minimum of 2 years of heavy oil experience, along with a heavy oil focus reflected as part of a career development plan.• The willingness and ability to relocate to where Heavy Oil Specialist's are needed.• Knowledge of heavy oil & thermal reservoir engineering practices, including heat management techniques. • Knowledge of oil, gas, water, steam phase behavior and rock properties at extreme temperature ranges. • Experience in analysis of heavy oil reservoirs with primary, water and steam injection processes. • Strong data analysis and computer skills. • Experience with Opco production databases and software. • Basic knowledge of earth model building and applications use. • Specialized knowledge of thermal and heavy oil reservoir simulation model building, simulation model use, and Chevron/ChevronTexaco reservoir simulation work flow. • Extensive experience with asset development and reservoir management experience. • Demonstrated skills in data analysis, statistics, design of experiments and Monte Carlo simulation. • Demonstrated strong team working, mentoring and training skills. • The ability to build strong and positive relationships with team members or customers. • Demonstrated ability to network effectively. Preferred Qualifications:• A Master's Degree required in Petroleum, Chemical, Mechanical or Electrical Engineering field.• Experience in thermal operations, field production engineering.
