The Global Business Services Center in Houston, Texas aims to:

POSITION SYNOPSIS:

To supervise a group of accountants who perform general monthly accounting including journal entry and trial balance uploads, account reconciliations, Balance Sheet reviews and month-end SEM-BCS reporting to corporate, all on behalf of the Petroleum Customer Sector Group.

Review the group's activities to ensure that all work is performed in accordance with BHP policies and Accounting Standards. Work with management, staff and customers to resolve business issues and determine proper accounting treatment. Identify, initiate and coordinate process improvement opportunities within the group.

 

RESPONSIBILITIES: An overriding commitment to health, safety, environmental responsibility and sustainable development Supervise and review the work of a group of professional accountants Problem resolution and ad hoc queries Process, input and review general ledger transactions Liaise with Customers and other Shared Service Centers Review account reconciliations Other accounting & administrative tasks, including reporting and historical research Initiate and participate in process improvement activities

 

QUALIFICATIONS: Bachelors degree in accounting or finance 5 - 7 years of experience Supervisory Experience Strong accounting, financial and reporting experience Experience in foreign currency translation preferable, but not essential Microsoft office products with advance Excel Experience in Financial Accounting systems/software (SAP and/or SEM - BCS desirable) Strong analytical, interpersonal and communication skills required Conscientious, detail oriented and self-motivating Customer focused individual with initiative and drive to accomplish Customer focused with patience to learn reporting applications
